Mohamed Hadid is Palestinian

He is a vocal Palestinian and to call him Jordanian is erasing his identity. Please have this fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:8B:C400:F4E0:9C45:2CDA:B36B:69D8 (talk) 08:27, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

{Rational for change:} Unfortunately the current text doesn't describe why Mohamed's father and his family moved to Syria from their home country, the word refuge doesn't even appear any where in the biography. Strange!

Change this

"His father, Anwar Hadid, studied at a Jerusalem teachers' college and attended a university[which?] in Syria to study law, before working in land settlement for the British authorities and teaching English at a teachers' college in Mandatory Palestine. In 1948, he moved to Syria and joined the United States Information Agency and the Voice of America. He and his family lived in Damascus, Tunisia, and Greece before moving to Washington, D.C., as Anwar had a job at the VOA headquarters there, when Mohamed was 14, and spent the rest of his career there with VOA and USIA as a writer, editor and translator."

To this

"His father, Anwar Hadid, studied at a Jerusalem teachers' college and attended a university[which?] in Syria to study law, before working in land settlement for the British authorities and teaching English at a teachers' college in Mandatory Palestine. In 1948, he and his family moved to Syria as Palestinian refugees after losing their home in Safad (today Tzfat in northern Israel) to a Polish Jewish family whom they sheltered for two years [1]. His father then joined the United States Information Agency and the Voice of America. The family lived in Damascus, Tunisia, and Greece before moving to Washington, D.C., as Anwar had a job at the VOA headquarters there, when Mohamed was 14, and spent the rest of his career there with VOA and USIA as a writer, editor and translator." Not done Could you provide other sources to support this? Mondoweiss may not be a reliable source. Zoozaz1 (talk) 03:30, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
Thank you Zoozaz1 (talk) for your interest in this addition. The website is an independent website with multiple layers of editors which is usually an indication of reliability. Additionally the article contains what is clearly personal authentic pictures and tweets from Mohamed Hadid official twitter account with dates. Nevertheless, to answer your question I have also assembled additional references for your consideration:

In short this is a well known fact but don't expect to see this fact any time soon on CNN or Fox, they have other news worthy articles that they have been worried about for the past 70 years. Luckily we have Wikipedia for the ones who are willing to take the extra mile, to find reliable information and share it with the world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MYS1979 (talkcontribs) 20:26, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

I agree, thankfully we do have Wikipedia to find reliable information. Wikipedia reports only what reliable sources say to make sure we only report reliable information. One part of our policy to make sure sources are independent of the subject, and unfortunately the sources you provided are self published that are very much not independent of the subject. If you are able to provide a WP:RS that is independent of the subject, then the information can be added to the article. Zoozaz1 (talk) 21:47, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

According to Wikipedia guidelines "Self-published sources can be reliable, and they can be used (except for third-party claims about living people). Sometimes, a self-published source is even the best possible source, such as when you are supporting a direct quotation" so when Mohamed states on his official social media something about himself that's the best reliable source you can ever find Zoozaz1 (talk). All these other sources that I have provided earlier are just referencing that. Please take a look at his Instagram posting here https://www.instagram.com/p/_3T2YgFKWl/?hl=en. Yes this is self published but the best reliable source for own biography, obviously!. If we want to be abundantly careful we can use Wikipedia guidelines for self published sources and use his words in quotes. MYS1979 (talk) 13:37, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

The main problem is not that the source is self published, the main problem is that the source is a primary source not independent of the subject, which is why I included the Yahoo article, which is a secondary source independent of the subject. Zoozaz1 (talk) 14:58, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

I'm not questioning that he is a Palestinian refugee, it's just that we need reliable secondary sources for most information. Thankfully, this source confirms that, so I'll add the information to the article. Zoozaz1 (talk) 14:23, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks Zoozaz1 (talk) I think that's a step in the right direction however I am a bit concerned that we are still missing a very profound statement made by Mohamed about himself, his father and their home in historic Palestine . When it comes to saying what someone has said, self published is the best primary source, naturally speaking. This is used elsewhere in other biographies in Wikipedia so certainly we are not making a precedence here. Here is an example from Candace_Owen check reference "89 Owens, Candace (March 14, 2019). "LOL". Twitter. Archived from the original on March 15, 2019. Retrieved April 12, 2019. LOL! 😂 FACT: I've never created any content espousing my views on the 2nd Amendment or Islam. The Left pretending I inspired a mosque massacre in...New Zealand because I believe black America can do it without government hand outs is the reachiest reach of all reaches!! LOL!. "
Giving the above I am suggesting to add the following paragraph at the end of his early childhood
"On December 28, 2015 Mohamed posted an Instagram with a picture of himself as a baby with his father, mother and siblings saying "Thats how we became refugees to Syria and we lost our home in Safad to a Jewish family that we sheltered when they were refugees from Poland on the ship that was sailing from country to country and no one would take them... they were our guest for 2 years till they made us refugees and they kicked us out of our own home. That my history.. Strange thing. That I and my family would do it again."[1]"
this is a crucial piece of information about this man and his family and it deserves to be recorded for the history. At the end of day wikipedia is not in the business of saying what is right or wrong, you and I cant say with certainty what he said is factual or not, but we are 100% in the right to say that's what he said. Hope you can see the difference here MYS1979 (talk) 16:24, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
I think that's a fair point, as long as we attribute it to Mohamed Hadid and not say it in wikivoice we can include the basic biographical information that he stated. Zoozaz1 (talk) 18:29, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
