M1 designation?

[edit]

I've never seen this weapon with a designation in the US Army system. I've only seen the Mk 1 Mod 0 designation. Its not in the link used as a reference, so I was wondering as to the source. Kevin Dockery's Special Warfare Special Weapons has this weapon as the Mk 1 Mod 0. -- Thatguy96 (talk) 14:59, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Calling it the Mk 1 Mod 0 in the title seemed awkward, so I just assumed that I could shorten Mk 1 to M1 and drop the Mod 0. If that's a problem, it can be changed. Cerebellum (talk) 15:12, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neither way is really a problem. I've generally push for the dropping of the "Mod" portions of USN designations in article titles (just as there's generally a convention to drop AX or EX suffixes from US Army designations in article titles). I just think for the sake of prevention confusion that M1 could be changed to Mk 1 (complete title "Mk 1 Underwater Defense Gun"). -- Thatguy96 (talk) 16:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Falklands?

[edit]

In the information box at right of page it states 'Falklands War' and then someone has put 'citation needed'

In the absence of any citation I suggest this be removed. I find it unbelievable that this weapon was used in the Falklands. By whom? Against what sort of target?Dean1954 (talk) 14:01, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
