I thought Maya Angelou went to George Washington High School. Or maybe she attended both?

Added 1950's pop singer Guy Mitchell. There is a Mission High School "Hall Of Fame" - in fact I interviewed Mr. Mitchell for the school paper in 1978 when they reopened the school after major refurbishment to make it earthquake safe. Maya Angelou indeed went to Mission also former San Francisco Giants 3rd baseman, Alan Gallagher who played for the team in the early 70s. (rgsf61)

Maya Angelou, went to Mission originally, then she transferred to Washington. But she did not graduate at Washington because she did no have enough units, so she went to Mission during the summer to complete her remaining units, therefore officially graduating from Mission High School. hope this helpsMissionMax (talk) 19:49, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bobby Freeman

[edit]

Where is Bobby Freeman on the list? He was best known for the hit song "Do You Want To Dance" in 1958 which was covered by many diverse artists ranging from Bette Midler to the punk band, the Ramones.... The last time I heard of him was in the 80's when he was selling 49ers stuff.

Quality of the school

[edit]

I'm not sure what kinds of objective statistics, or qualitative quotes (with citations), might be used to discuss this, but I think it would be interesting and valuable to include something about how the school ranks. Is it a good school? A bad school? These are certainly things locals would know about and talk about. ... Where do the majority of the students fall in terms of socio-economic status? What's the level of violence or drugs or other such things at the school?

I don't mean to imply it's a "bad" school simply by asking, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were, at least relative to certain other schools in other neighborhoods, and yet this is not at all explicitly addressed. Punahou School in Honolulu, to take just a random example, is known as an especially "good" school, with excellent programs, facilities, excellent academic standing, etc. And yet, this is not explicitly clear from that article either...

I think it's a valuable and important part of describing any school is all. LordAmeth (talk) 11:35, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni Reference Cleanup

[edit]

After seeing the article untouched for a few years...I cleaned up most of the alumni references and added hyperlinks to them. I am not the original author of this article.. In the future, I may attach references to some of the facts in question by the original author, and may even rewrite some of the article..
