There's a dead external link on the bottom of the main page. 71.131.202.201 00:51, 7 June 2007 (UTC)JB[reply]

I've changed it to point to an archived copy of the article. Thanks for pointing this out. Charivari 01:42, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Work on this page

[edit]

I have been a Miss Read fan for many years and class her as one of my all time favourite authors. There seems to be a reticence on the part of the author, Dora Saint, to reveal too much about herself or have her works subject to scrutiny. No TV series, no interviews etc I would like to work this page up, but at the same time respect the author's reticence and privacy. I would welcome any suggestions from fans who would like to acknowledge appreciation for Miss Read, without compromising Dora Saint's preference [I am assuming] for a quite life and success without public glare or intrusion. Any suggestions or information gratefully accepted. Proxxt (talk) 13:57, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't article be titled "Dora Saint" instead of "Miss Read"?

[edit]

It seems more logical to me for the article to be titled with the true name of the author rather than her pseudonym. "Miss Read" should redirect to "Dora Saint" rather than vice versa.

Wikipedia's guidelines seem to suggest this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Biographies#Pseudonyms.2C_stage_names_and_common_names . But on further investigation, another article seems to suggest the opposite: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_%28people_with_the_same_name%29#Nicknames.2C_pen_names.2C_stage_names.2C_cognomens . I guess the second reference is more applicable. (So should I delete my original suggestion, or leave it here, just to be provocative?) Omc (talk) 18:04, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be called Miss Read, as this is the name this author is best known by. However, as talk pages are ignored, don't feel obliged to consult. I do appreciate your attempt to engage though. Proxxt (talk) 10:10, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
