Hi, I can take this on over the next few days. Eddie891 Talk Work 22:40, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
Comments
[edit]- sources appear reliable
- Image is fine, though a bot wants a smaller version
- "full professor of history at the University of Sarajevo and then the University of Belgrade between 1968 and 1994." was he at Belgrade from '68 to '94, or at both over the time span. It's not particularly clear to me in the current phrasing
- Clarified. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- The lede could use a mention of what happened to him, what he did after 1991.
- Well, he participated in the "revisionist wave", was involved as an advisor during the Bosnian War and died in 2015. Added what age was when he died. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- "He participated in the revisionist wave in Serbian historiography from 1991, participated directly" could you eliminate the repetition of 'participated'? Also, instead of "from 1991" maybe "beginning in" and is there a time when that participation ended, or did it just end with his death?
- his death, his views didn't change again. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- "1992–1995 Bosnian War, and an analysis of Serbian historiography after 1991 observed that he was" I think there should be a sentence break here " War. An analysis"
- "When the Kingdom of Yugoslavia entered World War" I'd say " entered the Second World War", but perhaps I'm missing something?
- II was missing. Fixed. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- "the fascist puppet state the Independent State of Croatia was established" I'd suggest "the Independent State of Croatia, a fascist puppet state, was established"
- In the para beginning "After completing high school in 1947", I count 11 instances of 'he' and exactly zero of "Ekmečić", it's well worth mixing it up.
- "flee to Bosnian Serb-controlled proto-state known as the Republika Srpska" I think you need "flee to a Bosnian Serb..."
- "the" was missing. Added. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- "when he was President of Republika Srpska" unclear to the unknowing reader who 'he' refers to here
- Karadžić, clarified. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- I'd expect some explanation about the Weaponizeation of history-- What did that entail? Why did it matter?
- Will take a look at the sources and expand. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- OK, have done this, see what you think? Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 04:10, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

- "changing his views considerably from his earlier days" yet there's no analysis of what he did in the early days?
- Pretty standard socialist Yugoslav historiography really. I've said he "authored a number of important works in socialist Yugoslavia" do I need more than that? Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- I'd expect some mention of why the books he wrote were significant and similarly (given that none of the awards have articles), why they are significant as well.
- OK, will dig around. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- There is a dearth of info about the significance of the awards, but the various academies mention them, so they must be fairly important. Have added info from a review of History of Yugoslavia, there is already info about the NIN award award for the 1989 book. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 01:21, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

That's it for a first pass, overall a very nice article. More comments to come later. As always, many of my comments are subjective and some are probably due to a lack of knowledge on my part. Happy to discuss any/all in more detail. Best, Eddie891 Talk Work 14:14, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- Initial run through done, a couple of things to follow up. Will ping when done. Thanks for taking a look. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:02, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- G'day Eddie891, I reckon I might be done. Have another look and see what you think? Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 01:21, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Prose looks good-- I'll do a source spotcheck shortly. Best, Eddie891 Talk Work 12:51, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

- I checked just about all of the english-language sourcing and referencing lines up perfectly. You could afford to be more specific with journal articles (i.e. Ramet 2007 is just citing p. 46, not the whole range and as far as I can tell Nielsen 2020 cites only the first page of the article), but that won't hold up passing by itself. This article is well written, broad in coverage, well referenced, neutral, illustrated, and otherwise meets the GA criteria. Happy to pass. Best wishes, Eddie891 Talk Work 13:30, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Fixed Ramet, the problem with Nielsen is that it doesn't show pages. Thanks again. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 01:24, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
