Source
[edit]I'd like to know the source for this "The answer is that "milkshake" refers to her hip movement as she demonstrates in the music video. As for bringing "the boys to the yard", the "yard" is simply a reference to the dance floor."
--Guillaume777 14:36, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- There isn't a source. And I'm pretty sure Kelis said in an interview that the "milkshake" represents a woman's sex appeal in general. Voodoo4936 15:51, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- There is also the idea that the term "milkshake" is at least tangentially connected to the jiggling of female breasts, since they are known to produce milk. SWalkerTTU 18:12, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- I wonder why you put "are known to" in that sentence. 86.131.101.145 (talk) 15:35, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Interpretation
[edit]I think the article should detail more precisely the interpretation for the term "milkshake". I think it's a masturbatory hand job for a male, with his semen being the milk and the hand the shake; after all, I don't think the boys in the yard would really be too interested in whether her breasts jiggling are better than someone else's,as suggested above. A hand job, on the other hand, is more beneficial to a gentleman. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.105.244.18 (talk • contribs)

- Apparently the term "milkshake" applied to the song has many meanings. Once I saw on MuchMoreMusic's Uncovered that the milkshake represented "Kelis's enviable sexual abilities" or something like that, and I saw somewhere else that the yard is the bed. The usual rewrite destruction
[edit]In early 2008, I added a tidbit about a cover of this song to a section called "covers". There were a number of other covers mentioned (around 4 or 5), which is certainly of interest to readers of this page. People added to this information, caressing it into a well-linked and informative section of the article. For 2 1/2 years, it remained mostly unchanged, being modestly improved even by regular editors. Then someone named Pancake Something "rewrote" it, completely dropping the "covers" and other interesting sections. The hard work and knowledge of the masses over several years disappeared because one writer (and a reviewer, who did not criticize this omission) decided it was not important. Meh. - Welcome to Wikipedia, the internet ay-hole's playground since 2003! They're not interested in the information they're interested in the control and what people should know. Read Nineteen Eighty-Four, it's good background on what Wikipedia has become. As for user:PancakeMistake they're a probable a sockpuppet looking at their editing habits. 86.182.42.217 (talk) 12:02, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
Br== facebook spoofs ==
"Gandalf bring all the orcs to the yard, and he's like 'you shall not pass'"
"My solfege brings all the singers to the yard and they're like 'do re mi fa'"
"Exams bring all the year 12s to the yard and they're like 'we're gonna fail hard'"
I've seen countless numbers of these in the last couple of months, is it a notable enough trend to be included in 'references to popular culture'? They're stupid (IMHO) but they're certainly out there. 115.131.195.48 (talk) 16:07, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- No, but that's fucking awesome and I'm glad I know about it now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.48.89.183 (talk • contribs)
In 2 broke girls, its carolines ring tone season 2 episode 1.
2004 Year End US Position
[edit]The song should be 41 on the year-end chart, not 10. That refers to year-end top 100 single sales, not the actual year-end top 100. I can't find a citation though for this, but Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 2004 places it at 41 like it should be, but that article is unreferenced. 71.60.118.86 (talk) 02:28, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
