Hometown

[edit]

His hometown is listed incorrect. He went to clear lake high school which is clear lake city, Texas, not clear lake. The correct link to CLC is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clear_Lake_City_(Greater_Houston) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.81.243.194 (talk) 18:29, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite

[edit]

The article as a whole needs a major rewrite and has some pretty serious pov and tone issues. I'm going to start on this in the next few days and would like some input, thanks. Beach drifter (talk) 05:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think there is a factual mistake in the personal life section..he wasn't denied tenure but rather promotion, in 2007. Bigly1960 (talk) 15:52, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Whups. Looks like you're right. I'll fix it. Pkeets (talk) 01:52, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Negative tone?

[edit]

This article has a perceptively negative POV which is unsuitable for a Wikipedia article. I see some references that say the man's classes were popular and that he was well liked. I'll wait for developments about his death, and I'd be happy for someone already involved to adjust the tone, but if no one else steps up, I'll have a look at it later on. Pkeets (talk) 06:37, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be a little more specific on the changes you'd like to see? Information about Adams' allegedly popular college courses can be removed or tweaked per WP:PUFF, but any "negative" information must be evaluated more closely. Just from a quick Google search, it seems like this guy was fairly controversial during his life. He is most known for being fired over a tweet that compared coronavirus-related restrictions to slavery. While this is ugly and vitriolic content, it is reliably sourced and must be covered in the article. KidAd (💬💬) 07:27, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Went ahead and fixed it. Removed some erroneous text, added some info and tidied up slanted language. What do you think? Pkeets (talk) 08:06, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Page name - disambiguation as a columnist?

[edit]

Many professors are columnists, because public commentary often comes with the profession. I think Adams' main notability was as a professor, not as a columnist. Any objections to a technical move? --Pudeo (talk) 13:26, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fine with me. He seems to have been quite brilliant on more than one front. Although it's most likely the books and columns that made him notable. 14:21, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

Notabillity

[edit]

Why does this man even have a Wikipedia page? How many other notable professors/authors don't? This is sensationalism. This page doesn't need to exist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:80:C100:C440:5849:19B8:1CE2:1555 (talk) 15:01, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Release of 911 tape

[edit]

I've added a reference to the article on release of the 911 tape and indication of a gunshot wound. This is reported by both the WECT6 local news station and a local newspaper. Pkeets (talk) 01:03, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

His main occupation was Professor, so that should be added. 75.110.236.214 (talk) 22:57, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Already mentioned in intro, "criminologist" sufficient for infobox. – Thjarkur (talk) 11:06, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding more of his views, such as on the Book of Mormon

[edit]

His writings should be expanded to include his commentary on Book of Mormon and responses to it. See his other postings here, such as his claims about checking his students' immigration status and other topics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CharllieBnaIng (talkcontribs) 14:59, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
