Pics lacking
[edit]Why don't we have a picture of the person in the entry? Thanks. I found this on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=249447473008795&set=pob.100038306324743 Can not this pic be used by an editor or administrator? Thanks.
Notes
[edit]I am not an expert at this but it appears after reviewing the entry that possible deletion of this entry may have to do more with politics than notability of this person. I don't share his politics but I do recognize his achievements in medical science. I have also read some of his articles in realclearhistory. For what is worth! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.28.60.176 (talk) 18:14, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
Addition: His "notability" seems to be well established by cursory examination of references 8-12, 21-33, 38-67 where others write about him. Thank you for permitting me to post this comment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.28.60.176 (talk) 18:22, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
I found much info under his full name: Miguel A. Faria, Jr., M.D. to separate him from a famous Brazilian film-maker with similar name. I hope this helps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.117.184.167 (talk) 14:58, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
I fully agree the "notability" tag should be removed, as Faria has significant notability given the number of newspaper articles about him, his mentioned in several books, and the fact he seems to be a polymath, neurosurgeon, editor, historian, activist, you name it! I also agree that the article could significantly improve with better organization, subheadings, etc. Someone should undertake this and as requested in the second tag, perhaps I will do so later today. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.22.125.126 (talk) 13:18, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
As requested by editor, I did "buckets of work" as promised: the article was structured and cleaned up as per Wikipedia standards. i established notability in multiple areas supported by primary as well as respected secondary sources, such as newspaper articles and scholar searches. There might be now too many references. Point of View of article is more neutral from re-structuring, and if readers and editors agree should remove the last tag, unless there are objections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.22.125.126 (talk) 19:46, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
"Advocacy" of Second Amendment? No. Propagandist of Extremist Views.
[edit]I'm a little troubled by this reference "and advocate for the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution,[10][11][12]"
The Second Amendment is in no need of any advocacy. The (US) Constitution has indeed been amended, and the Second Amendment is in place. Second.
Doctor Faria seems, rather, to be an advocate for one particular savage, ahistorical, and unwise set of interpretations of that Amendment. One of two of these, but fortunately not the whole farrago, have been adopted by an activist, partisan, and unprincipled set of Supreme Courts nominated by rightwing US Presidents. The result, predictably, has been a slowing in the downward drift of America's home-gun bloodbath.
I think the article should identify Doctor Faria accurately. He is a propagandist for the non-well-regulated ownership of guns, and uses factitious interpretations of the Constitution in that effort.
