I'm being horribly discriminated for having been involved in that class-action against the Writers Guild. I can't get a job and I need to survive. I was not the only person involved, I was prominent because I had more credits and experience than everyone else. I did not name anyone who was involved in the lawsuit against the WGA. The names are listed on the original briefs -- but there are no names listed here. I don't believe that I was or have been violating anyone's privacy by saying the other Guild members were involved as a point of clarification because no names have been mentioned at all and without making this clarification this statement places the onus on me completely having the result of blacklisting me further. I can't pay for not wanting to accept half pay compensation for the rest of my life. Writers are striking now for more and more equitable pay -- yet the Guild NEVER represented me on the half pay for professional Hispanics issue. It is all a matter of legal record, journalistic articles, academic references and already there are searchable references on my page which include my congressional testimony under oath on this issue. I have a concussion as a result of an intentional blow to the head at a PE class where I was teacing (with 53 students in my roster) and have sciatica and amnesia. Please be patient. Please remove the ugly signs from my page.

The half pay program was not "voluntary" and it was sanctioned by the Writers Guild of America, west for its professional experienced Latino members in violation of its own rules. The Writers Guild of America, with a history of blacklisting going back to the McCarthy era, called half-pay affirmative action and bullied all those who came in opposition to half-pay for Hispanics on the basis of their ethnicity by creating what amounted to two-tier employment. It's really sad that for Hispanic Writers Guild members in want and/or need of employment the only option was to call oneself a "trainee," despite years in the Guild as a professional screenwriter. Please don't remove the tags (the signs or banners above the article) as soon as you see them. They are there to let other people know this article needs work. That way other people can help out. It's a collaborative project and no one person owns an article. I understand the frustration about "ugly signs." Sometimes I get annoyed when an article I am working on suddenly sprouts a tag. Some times it's a tag about something I can fix, and then I fix it before taking down the tag. Sometimes I don't understand the tag, and then I go ask the person who put it there. Sometimes the tag isn't something I can help with and then I either have to ask other people for help or just wait for somebody to see the tag and help. Cloveapple (talk) 15:42, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Darn. I think that means we can't use the quote here. Wikipedia prefers reliable secondary sources. It doesn't allow what it calls "original research." That means we can't use our own experiences as a source. All of us editors need to base our writing on sources outside ourselves. So you can't use the fact that you heard it. I'm less sure about the use of primary documents (like court records). I'm pretty sure that use of those is discouraged. For sure we can't use IMDB as a source. It has user-generated non-fact-checked content. That's why I used a newspaper source as a reference for your television writing instead of using IMBD. We can add IMDB in an "external links" section though.

There've been long pages written about what kind of sources to use (See WP:RELY for the official long explanation). When I'm looking for sources here's how I think of it: I want stuff like books, magazine articles, or newspaper articles because all of those have editors and get fact checked. Also, on my grandfather Chinea -- I requested documents from the Cuban government and, after a preliminary communication, received no response to my request. If you're wondering about using the picture on Wikipedia, I'm thinking the first step would be figuring out the picture's copyright status. I'm not sure that a picture of him should be in an article about you though. Of course if you have a personal or professional website you could always host the picture there. (If you have a website it would probably be fine to include that site in an "external links" section.) If he shows up in newspapers or books he might be a candidate for his own article and the picture could go there. I'd strongly suggest that you not write an article about him though. If you did want an article about him it might be worth it to seek out a sponsor who would write that article. Cloveapple (talk) 17:37, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately Wikipedia can't use either of those as a source. IMDB is out because it's user provided content with no fact checking, and the document from the court case is considered a primary document so it's out as a source. I think both could go in the external links section though.

It's frustrating because I think there could be a really interesting article here, but as you say sources are hard to find. I did do some looking in a newspaper database to find the sources I did add. I also found the Op Ed My Turn essay you wrote in Newsweek. The problem is that I found newspaper coverage that the lawsuit was starting but no news mention of anything after that. I wouldn't be surprised if there was more coverage that I just haven't found. Sources don't have to be online, they just need to be stuff that fits the WP:RELY policy. Basicly to fit the source policy we need secondary sources independent of you that are considered reliable and fact checked. What that means is that most magazines, newspapers, or books from the time would work just fine.

Right now I think the best thing to do is to ruthlessly edit out everything that can't be sourced with newspaper/magazine/book coverage. Then the tags can get taken off. Hopefully your movie (congrats!) will get some reviews or coverage to grow the article, and maybe more old coverage will turn up and get added too. Cloveapple (talk) 02:15, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Fixup

I have fixed up the content here to be NPOV and encyclopedic, and have communicated with the subject about how to edit, and have directed them to contact me if they have any questions about how to add content. if she does any editing that anyone has concerns about, please let her know, but also drop me a message and i will try to fix it or write her about it. I have sort of adopted the article.
