[edit]Yes I know this overlaps "Midland Railway Class 2F 0-6-0" and "Midland Railway Class 3F 0-6-0" I intend to merge them in later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kjhskj75 (talk • contribs) 13:43, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- This needs to be Midland Railway # Class, as per David Jenkinson/Bob Essery, which is better historical research than a 60 year old Ian Allan Book. Tony May (talk) 23:00, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have merged the articles. Biscuittin (talk) 09:54, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit]These (1907 book scans) might be useful to this article, but I can't make sense of the numbering scheme to identify just which variant they are. Andy Dingley (talk) 02:45, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- 2094 was not used post-1907 (until the renumbering of the Whitelegg 4-4-2T in 1930), so must be a pre-1907 number; the only one which fits is one of the Johnson 1873 Class (the Sharp Stewart 1892 batch, MR 2093-2122, renumbered 3370-99 in 1907). 2094 was built with B class boiler, rebuilt H class in 1905, renumbered 3371 in 1907, rebuilt with G7 class boiler in 1925; wdn. 11/1959 as BR 43370. I would say that the photo shows it in its pre-1905 form with B class boiler.
- 281 (not 251, the image is incorrectly named) was a 2-4-0 after 1907 (Johnson 1492 Class), but prior to that had been used on several 0-6-0s, no less than three in the five years down to 1907; fortunately, two of these were Kirtley double-frame designs, so that leaves only one possibility. This is one of the Johnson 2736 Class, those built to Derby O/2821 in 1906 (MR 275-284, renumbered 3805-14 in 1907). 281 was built with a H class boiler, rebuilt G7 class in 1920; renumbered 3811 in 1907; wdn. 2/1951 as BR 43811. I would say that the photo shows it in its form with H class boiler. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:53, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
Fowler 2F
[edit]According to Locomotives of the Midland Railway, some 2F 0-6-0s were buillt under Fowler between 1909 and 1922. Are these included in this class? If not, what class are they in? Biscuittin (talk) 10:36, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- Possibly, this refers to Fowler rebuilds. Biscuittin (talk) 10:42, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- The only 0-6-0s built new during Fowler's tenure were the 4Fs. He did continue the Johnson/Deeley policy of rebuilding the older 0-6-0s, and whilst many 2Fs became 3Fs by fitment of a 4'8" diameter boiler (H class round-top or G7 class Belpaire), several reverted to 2F condition if the only boilers available were of 4'1" dia. (B class round-top or G6 class Belpaire). The last locos built new as 3F were the 3815 Class of 1908; the last built new as 2F were the final batch of the Johnson 1873 Class in 1902. Some should be preserved.
[edit]I really want some of them preserved.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.121.214.63 (talk) 10:19, 8 July 2018
- @Xanthomelanoussprog: I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 5.6 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for discussion on how to improve the Midland Railway Johnson 0-6-0 article. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:44, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:45, 9 July 2018 (UTC)- To answer the IP's question; it was rumoured that part of 3260 was left in the South Drain after the 1949 derailment. Xanthomelanoussprog (talk) 06:12, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
