Michel Foucault is a former featured article. Please see the links under Article milestones below for its original nomination page (for older articles, check the nomination archive) and why it was removed.
How is Foucault's name pronounced? Normal French pronunciation would be /miˈʃɛl fuˈko/ but I have seen web sites that say it's /ˈfuko/. Did he alter the proonunciation when he lived in Scandinavia and Germany, or are those sites simply wrong?— Preceding unsigned comment added by ABehrens (talk • contribs) 1 February 2016 (UTC)

It does not appear to be true or correct that Michel Foucault signed the January 1977 French petition calling for abolishing the age of consent; his omission to do so is notable given that so many others did. This is actually stated in the "French petitions against age of consent laws" article, and is backed up in 2 of the sources cited, 5 and 6:
Foucault signed the May 1977 letter arguing against the disparity in age of consent laws between heterosexuals and homosexuals.
It seems remarkable to include this false factoid in the page for Foucault when the same petition is not mentioned on the Wikipedia pages of many who did actually sign it. Borwse (talk) 21:29, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There have been serious allegations against Michel Foucault regarding sexual abuse of boys in Tunisia during the late 1960s. These claims were brought to light by French-American professor Guy Sorman, who stated that he witnessed Foucault engaging in inappropriate behavior with young boys. These allegations have sparked significant controversy and debate, but they remain allegations and have not been legally proven.
Stating that he never actually witnessed any misconduct on Foucault's part (asides from "throwing money at young boys" of which he states he is unsure of the reason), that he originally heard of these events from a "Mohammed", that he is unsure of the ages of the "boys" he saw Foucault "buy" (ie. throw money at), and that he met with Foucault in 1970 in Tunisia instead of 1969, Foucault having left Tunisia in 1968. I believe allegations made against those in power should always be considered and believed, however, given both Sorman's inconsistencies and his generally reactionary politics - I think it is safe to take his allegations with a grain of salt. I don't see why these claims should not be included with the article along side these counter explainations given that it's still a commonly talked about subject with foucault. flat earth and the elders of Zion aren't true but they still have their own articles because they are notable subjects. Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 20 November 2024
This template must be followed by a complete and specific description of the request, that is, specify what text should be removed and a verbatim copy of the text that should replace it. "Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "please change X to Y".
The edit may be made by any extended confirmed user. Remember to change the |answered=no parameter to "yes" when the request has been accepted, rejected or on hold awaiting user input. This is so that inactive or completed requests don't needlessly fill up the edit requests category. You may also wish to use the {{EEp}} template in the response. To request that a page be protected or unprotected, make a protection request.
Why is Marxism-Leninism mentioned in the introduction, which Foucault had almost nothing to say about other than vehemently opposing it? MaxWM7096 (talk) 20:47, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
