Michael Cohen (writer) → Michael Cohen (Australian writer) – To avoid PDAB issues versus Michael H. Cohen and others - "writer" is a very broad term. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:22, 1 November 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Frost 05:04, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose, appears unambiguous. 162 etc. (talk) 16:49, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- Comment Article is orphaned and a likely candidate for WP:AFD. 162 etc. (talk) 16:49, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support Michael H. Cohen has 106 views compared with only 27[[1]] for the Australian writer and people normally expect people to be at "Firstname Lastname" so Michael H. Cohen probably remains ambiguous. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:58, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose as Michael H appears to be principally a lawyer, so to have him as the primary topic for Michael Cohen (writer) would seem to be not appropriate. So leaving things as they are would be the most natural DAB. Additionally, as 162 states, this article is possibly a candidate for AFD. TiggerJay (talk) 02:28, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- I am not proposing to
have him as the primary topic for Michael Cohen (writer)
. I'm proposing to redirect the base name to the disambiguation. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:31, 8 November 2024 (UTC)- Hmm, you didn't mention in the RM a proposal to move (writer) to the larger Michael Cohen page for DAB, but rather brought up the lawyer for some reason. Regardless, there doesn't appear to be any other actual writer on the DAB page that would be a reasonable alternative target for the WP:PARENDIS target of writer. so DAB does not appear necessary. TiggerJay (talk) 03:13, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think Michael H. Cohen, who
has authored books on health-care law and policy
, could reasonably be called a writer and hence is such a person. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:17, 8 November 2024 (UTC)- His middle initial in his name is clearly his COMMONNAME and providers natural disambiguation. Even on his company website where everyone has simply first and last name, he clearly has chosen to have his middle initial included. This usage goes back to his first book in 1990. Additionally, simply being some who "also" has published books hardly makes someone the primary topic for the PARENDIS of "writer". If anything his PARENDIS would be "layer" not "writer. But if we explore how well known he is as an author, looking at Amazon numbers for this author (as just an example), his "most popular" book has only 6 reviews, and is ranked #6,577 in Alternative & Holistic Medicine -- that is fairly far down the list. According to Psycnet APA that book is only cited in one other publication, which was also authorized by Cohen. And otherwise being published or writing articles in your primary field (legal and medicine), rather he is known for his professional work in the intersection of law and medicine. TiggerJay (talk) 15:17, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- The fact another article can be naturally disambiguated or may even be the most common name doesn't take away the need to disambiguate this title correctly, see WP:ATDAB. At the least Michael H. Cohen will be called "Michael Cohen" sometimes. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:08, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

- Support per nomination and Crouch, Swale. In addition to Michael Cohen (writer)/Michael Cohen (Australian writer), Michael A. Cohen "is the author or editor of several books", Michael D. Cohen (academic)#Selected publications, Michael Cohen (lawyer) and Michael H. Cohen have written books, Michael Cohen (doctor) "wrote more than 450 articles; was the author, co-author or editor of 11 books, and contributed more than 28 chapters to other books", Michael Cohen (pharmacist) "wrote a column for the journal Hospital Pharmacy. He writes a column for The Philadelphia Inquirer", Michael Cohen (physicist) has various writings to his credit as does computer scientist Michael F. Cohen. Thus, Michael Cohen (writer) should redirect to the Michael Cohen disambiguation page in the same manner as Michael Cohen (academic) and Michael Cohen (musician). —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 22:22, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support. Theparties (talk) 01:12, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Weak support, mostly per Roman Spinner. While I can see the perspective that the notability of this Michael Cohen is derived predominantly from being a writer, in contrast to the others, who are mostly known for their work in specific disciplines, I think that the number and relative notability of those Michael Cohens, alongside the fact that at least several can meaningfully be considered "writers" in some sense, is enough to justify a DAB page. – Michael Aurel (talk) 02:09, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support. Michael Cohen (writer) should redirect to the DAB at Michael Cohen which lists a number of writers. Andrewa (talk) 08:34, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Comment - I agree with 162 etc. above and have opened an AFD rather than close this (see here for the discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Cohen (writer)). Whether or not this discussion should be suspended pending the outcome of the AFD I leave up to another closer. FOARP (talk) 12:53, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support per Roman Spinner, but put on hold pending the AfD result. The AfD folks (myself included) tend to be enormously peeved by moves during an ongoing discussion. Toadspike [Talk] 16:20, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
