[edit]Hi, pls explain why you are deleting citations and cited information about the topic of the article. Let's work together to make the article better and edit war. thank you IQ125 (talk) 17:09, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- @IQ125: As I highlight in my edit summary, sources like news.theparanormal.ca are obviously not OK for use on Wikipedia. The same goes for Youtube links. Please review WP:RS. I will be removing these per Wikipedia policy. The information will then be uncited. If you want the information there, per WP:PROVEIT, it's on you to dig up sources that meet WP:RS standards. Additionally, this explanation, as worded, is deep WP:FRINGE territory, and it's extremely WP:UNDUE to list this entity from the folklore record as a cryptid (cryptozoology is a pseudoscience, please review WP:PSEUDOSCIENCE). On Wikipedia, we don't ascribe the potential of mysterious deaths from entities from the folklore record in an emic voice. :bloodofox: (talk) 17:53, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Bloodofox: We allow articles on Yeti, Bigfoot, Yowie, etc. This Menk creature is the same type of Homid cryptid as many other articles and is allowed on Wikipedia. The Discovery Channel created a documentary on the topic of the Menk and this is a valid citation for the article. If you want to add a cited paragraph discrediting the documentary that is up to you. Pls stay in touch. IQ125 (talk) 18:59, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- This is not an issue of having an article on the entity, which we need. This is a problem of sourcing and treatment. Wikipedia requires reliable sources (WP:RS). This is an article on folklore, therefore we cite this material to experts in the field of the academic discipline of folklore studies, folklorists. Sites like news.theparanormal.ca do not meet Wikipedia's reliable source threshold, and Youtube links to Discover Channel programs are similarly unacceptable. Additionally, the term cryptid is not used by academics, but is an extension of cryptozoology, a pseudoscience. I'll be removing these items in 24 hours. If you continue to revert war to reinstate Youtube links, unreliable sources, and pseudoscience, we'll need to escalate this discussion. :bloodofox: (talk) 20:16, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

- I added two high quality academic sources discussing the mythology of the menk. Hopefully someone can expand the article from these. WP:UNDUE pop culture claims and sources should not drive the article content. - LuckyLouie (talk) 16:16, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
