[edit]Should there be some reference to the metrosexual/übersexual trends in popular culture here? They aren't conscious movements, but seem related to loosening male gender scripting nonetheless. Brianonhisown (talk) 15:15, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps this article should also be linked with Progressive Masculism, and also mention some desire to reclaim masculine roles in a positive light as opposed to simply be liberated from them. Brianonhisown (talk) 15:28, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Sources?
[edit]This article has no references or even external links to relevant sites. It looks like original research. Unless that changes it doesn't look like there's any other choice but to nominate it for deletion. SQGibbon (talk) 04:39, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
There's no sources backing up the section claiming that we live in a patriarchal society either, I've marked it for sourcing. Have also removed the "alleged" bit from matriarchy as it's no more or less attested to than the patriarchy section. If one is "alleged" they both are. Casting doubt over one unsourced claim but leaving another as unchallenged fact is equivalent to inserting POV. 89.126.18.19 (talk) 13:22, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- I have no problem imagining that men can be oppressed by gender stereotypes and the burdens of masculinity. However, the section on being oppressed by "matriarchies" had no sources and had been tagged for a year, so I've deleted it. Also, point me to these matriarchies. I might like to go live in one. Removed general hearsay that did not site sources and was "racy" in nature, no one needs any more of that crap. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:9:4C00:161:989:B716:72B7:F74C (talk) 04:06, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Men's liberation's engagement with gay liberation states that homosexuality lead to heterosexuality. This is just absolutely ridiculous considering reproduction is impossible and homosexuality could have not possible started first. I am removing it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:9:4C00:161:989:B716:72B7:F74C (talk) 04:15, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Rewording the introduction
[edit]I was having a bit of a struggle to understand, within the umbrella of the men's movement category, which article referred to the pro-feminist movement, the anti-feminist movement, and which included both as a general category.
I went ahead, been bold and rephrased the introduction to mean that the "Men's liberation movement" generally designates the viewpoint informed by feminism. That is after reviewing the whole article for evidence, whether in the text or references, that the MLM supported anti-feminist viewpoints, of which I found none.
If one finds otherwise, I'd appreciate some help in making the distinctions more clear about which movement is which within the Men's rights portal.

History Section
[edit]The intro of the history section seems to be a way to link worker's rights as a precursor or even as the original male liberation movement. While I personally agree with that analysis, it's clogging the history section, taking up half of it. Can we just all agree that this article is talking about the specific arc of male liberation that originated within feminism? If so we can delete most of the stuff before "Jack Sawyer" in the history section Willwill0415 (talk) 02:30, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- This has been here without rebuttal for nearly 3 years. It's not sourced and not obviously relevant to the content of the article. I'm doing some editing.
