Additional episodes: so far just a rumor
[edit]I followed the link to the reference provided and it was only a link to a rumor mill website. Also, Melissa tweeted that there was no official news about it. Elizium23 (talk) 17:25, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- OK, Thanks for letting me know about Mel's tweet. :) TVbythenumbers is pretty relialbe most of the time, though. QuasyBoy 23:14, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Ratings
[edit]the rating section box is wrong it. in one of the rows it says # episode, which im not sure if that means episode 1 or the total # of episodes in the season, while either way it is wrong becuase there have only official bin anounced 10. so who ever did that needs to figure it out --Gerty 22:36, 17 October 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gdaly93 (talk • contribs)
- If you check the citation in the "# Ep." column you'll see the number refers to the total number of episodes ordered, which is 30, not 10. --AussieLegend (talk) 08:16, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
A few current issues
[edit]The statement about sexual tension between Mel and Joe, does anyone have a source for that? It sounds like WP:OR to me. Also, the line about Stephanie's habit of re-introducing herself: I see it has been deleted and re-added already; I'm inclined to remove it again, because it is simply one thing she did once and not a character trait per se. Thoughts? Elizium23 (talk) 21:10, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
New photo proposed
[edit]I have uploaded a new photo of the cast and crew. It is in the public domain! It is also a nice high-resolution shot. I propose to either supplant the existing non-free photo we have for the cast, or to add it at some other location in the article. Please examine it and tell me what you think. More recurring characters
[edit]There are ore characters that can be added to this such as Holly ryder's new girlfriend. Ramon the co-editor of the school blog. and tiffanyCaringtype1 (talk) 15:05, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
- Holly has not yet recurred, nor has Roman, even though Lennox mentioned the blog in one of tonight's episodes. Tiffany deserves mention, as does Scott Michael Foster, Mel's 24-year-old love interest. Elizium23 (talk) 05:21, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
holly has appeared in 2 episodes and will be in an upcoming one. and ramon has only appeared in 2 episodes but the way they left it he could be in more.Caringtype1 (talk) 05:48, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- I saw several episodes with Joey's mother. She also is a recurring character. Bob.v.R (talk) 10:28, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
Mel's age and birth year
[edit]Last week, it was revealed that Mel is 32 years old, and her boyfriend is 24. Would it be original research to presume that the series is set in the current year, and calculate her birth year as 1979? Elizium23 (talk) 05:22, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- It has long been held that fiction doesn't necessarily follow the real-world timeline. Lost, The Simpsons and That '70s Show are good examples of this. It's definitely OR to assume that her birth year is 1979. You need a citation from a reliable source to confirm the birth year. --AussieLegend (talk) 09:24, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- The current episodes are set during winter (there have been several ski trips), so it could easily be last year (or earlier this year, or later this year, or even early next year). But it is definitely not August 2011. We can't assume anything else (unless I've missed some clue) Shadzane (talk) 15:28, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, in last night's episode, it was revealed that next year is a leap year. But your point is well taken. Elizium23 (talk) 18:35, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Mel's first name
[edit]So the hidden comment says we are not supposed to change "Melissa" to "Melanie", but is there a reliable secondary source to support that it is actually "Melissa"? I am inclined to remove her first name altogether, because as far as I know, she is just known as Mel in the show and there has been no hint from primary sources of her full first name. Elizium23 (talk) 04:03, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- The show is called "Melissa and Joey", why would Mel be short for Melanie. That makes no sense![(in this case-I know that its a common nickname)Caringtype1 (talk) 04:16, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hart has asserted that it is Melanie, apparently she has done this more than once. Her character is never referred to in the series as Melissa. Joe, the character, is never called Joey. The series title could well refer to the actors. Elizium23 (talk) 09:54, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- I think "Joe, the character, is never called Joey" is a bit of a stretch, as it's a single letter. The actor's name is really Joseph "Joey" Lawrence, and the character has been called Joseph. "Melissa" is a natural jump or, if you subscribe to the Joe/Joey thing, maybe here name is "Meliss" (ies sans "a"). "Melissa" was first added to the article by an IP in 2010 and, as far as I can see, has never been cited. I headed to the official website to see if I could sort this out and was hit in the face by the following poll:
Which Melissa & Joey character made
you laugh the hardest this week?
Melissa
Joey
Ryder
Lennox
This would seem to settle the issue, as it specifically asks "Which Melissa & Joey character". Unfortunately, webcitation.org doesn't seem to be working at the moment. --AussieLegend (talk) 10:50, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

- Hart's Tweet directly contradicts that. Elizium23 (talk) 10:56, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
I;m pretty all Hart meant by that tweet was that the name "Mel" is commonly use as a shortened version of Melanie, but in this show, they are using it as Melissa.Caringtype1 (talk) 15:40, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
