Comment

One of the Mel's was designed by the architectural firm of Armet & Davis, known for 50s era Googie architecture. They also designed Pann's and the first Norms Restaurant. Might be worth working in somehow... According to the website I found it was opened in Sherman Oaks in 1947. Was that the original one??? The dates are interesting... Interestingly it was built the same year Mel's was founded, 1947, and is an early example of googie architecture done by Armet & Davis who also designed Pann's and the first Norms Restaurant. It's called "Original Mel's, not "Mel's Original"

The breakaway chain in the Central Valley is named "Original Mel's", for the record. Evil666 (talk) 00:04, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

History Needed

There are actually two Mel's chains currently in operation, and the reasons are a bit complicated. I've done as much work on this page as I am going to, so maybe someone else can add a History section and explain what happened.
