WP:Japan Commentary
[edit]Most of the article seems adequate. However, before B-class can be positively assessed, a few concerns should be addressed:
- Her birthday needs to be noted.
- Why is it noted that when she was chosen for the symphony in 2002, that "of 76 applicants... only seven of whom were female"? The "76 applicants" part is acceptable and indeed impressive, as I think is the intent, but why the part about seven females? Seems trivial and irrelevant.
- The wording for the discography is a little unclear. She is "featured on tracks"; does this mean she's only on some of the songs? I can understand that line because she's a member of the symphony, but then on the album Amazing Grace, her name and picture are on the front cover. Perhaps an extra column needs to be added to the table for "album artist", to tell whether it's the symphony or Kanda herself.
Good luck! Boneyard90 (talk) 16:18, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking the time to assess and provide comments. I will work on the improvements you've suggested. To answer your questions:
- Listing the gender disparity in MSO applicants was intended to highlight the fact that it is extremely rare for a major symphony to hire a female as principle trombonist. I'll expand this section to make it more clear.
- None of these CDs are symphony performances; they are all solo albums. However, some of the CDs have only Kanda, but others are a compilation of several soloists, so Kanda is not heard at all on the other tracks. I'll try to clarify this.

I think the Start assessment is alright, the article is close to a stub. The C-Class by WP:Japan is not correct I think because the criteria for that class include that the article be substantial. Hekerui (talk) 10:27, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
