Megadeth (band name)

Uh, in the article it states that the name Megadeth is a "Play on the army's term for megadeath, which means 1,000,000 deaths." It's not a pun, someone messed up when writing the band's name on a marquee when they were just starting, afaik. Can someone edit this if they can?

Megadeth has not disbanded yet, as Dave Mustaine has recovered 100% from his radial nerve injury. He has remixed/remastered 8 of his capitol records albums (including MD.45, replacing Lee Ving's vocals with his own and Lee's harmonica parts with his guitar). He has also written a new 14 song album "The System Has Failed" with a single "Die Dead Enough". In a recent chat with Mustaine, fans have noted that this will be the last Megadeth album, but not the last Mustaine album. "The System Has Failed" is out September 14th.

This year i went to a concert of Megadeth and they kicked some sirious ass. Dave Mustaine was playing amazingly. He was looking pretty positive, waving, making thumbs up gestures and stuff. That was my best concert experience ever in fact... I missed too much David Ellefson and Nick Menza though.

Metallica

Jesus, how many fucking times does Metallica have to be mentioned? Some of it is warranted, ie, Mustaine left Metallica for Megadeth, but is there really any need for further comparisons (example: Justice for All and Rust in Peace/Countdown and the Black Album)? This article has been trolled.

Are you saying that only "registered users" are allowed to voice their opinion?? If so, here's the steps to cleansing your idiocy. 1) buy a gun. 2) use it on yourself. Now, Metallica is an awesome band who has enjoyed extreme amounts of world wide success. While Megadeth has, they haven't had the amount of success as Metallica. I must admit, if this is an encyclopedia, then we should really see at getting some objective writers. I've noticed in a few articles that I've read such as the (yes sorry to mention it as the first commenting in this section said why do they have to be mentioned so many times) Metallica, that it sounds as though it's a fanboy or somesuch writing the articles. Such as when the article reads "Metallica sold out" etc. --J

Ok, what the hell is going on here? First of all, Metallica should be mentioned early on in the article, relating the band leaving him at the bus stop and later on, regarding Mustaine appearing on Some Kind Of Monster. None of this Metallica are the greatest band ever crap, that is just one persons opinion. --Chipwich

If this really is an encyclopedia,then nobody cares for your opinion,nor my opinion. This websites purpose is to be an open dictionary for everyone,meaning it should include facts. Your point of view is irrelevant. Metallica is one of my favorite bands and their success is obvious,but the quality of their music is in the eye of the beholder.

argentina announcement

dave mustaine just announced in argentina that the band would continue playing and he would not go solo. this needs to be put into the article.

In 2004, Dave Mustaine said that "The System Has Failed" would be the last Megadeth record before he went as a solo artist. After The inaugural launch of Gigantour, Dave Mustaine finally made up his mind regarding the future of Megadeth.

Before playing this special version of "Coming Home", (with the song's lyrics changed from the original "I'm coming home to Arizona" to "I'm coming home to Argentina") Dave Mustaine said "I told you earlier tonight that I was gonna let all of you know first before the rest of the world what our decision was - whether or not we were gonna continue with Megadeth or not."
Immediately after the song ends, Mustaine said "The answer is yes." The crowd erupted in joy, and Megadeth started playing "Symphony Of Destruction" accompanied by the crowds screaming "Megadeth! Megadeth! Aguante Megadeth!" Loosely translated as "Megadeth! Megadeth! Keep Megadeth Alive!"

As stated in Megadeth Official website: "MEGADETH will continue as a band. MEGADETH will record a new album. MEGADETH will continue to play."

Discography Necessary?

Is Megadeth's entire discography, let alone the videography, really necessary for this page? It takes up a lot of room and in my opinion should be moved to a seperate page. What do other people think? Cheers, Hauser 09:55, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

I agree. I've made the same statement on the Iron Maiden page and intend to split that at the start of next month if I get no objections. I'd be more than happy to do the same with this page if nobody has a problem with that? IainP (talk) 10:33, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Also noticed - the Dave Mustaine page has the exact same discography within it (plus two MD45 albums). It would make sense to create one Megadeth Discography and strip this repeated information out of both articles IainP (talk) 09:57, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

Rude Awakening

The cover image for the CD and DVD are the same, so I've linked the DVD cover to the same image. However, for some reason this has been uploaded as "Image:MegadethTheWorldNeedsAHero.jpg" (as opposed to "Megadeth-The World Needs a Hero.jpg" which is the actual one for The World...). I've re-uploaded the image with the correct name and will mark the old image for deletion once I've corrected the links. IainP (talk) 09:56, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

I'd say that's fine. Someone was starting to add former members to the Iron Maiden one and I rv'd them for the same reason. The infobox would stretch down half the page! IainP (talk) 11:35, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Drugs

The discussion of the band's involvement with drugs and how they shaped the early years does not continue through the article. What types of drugs did they do and when? This is important because they were so involved in them at the beginning of the article and then it trails off on the topic.

Is thatCover of "Battery" on the internet Megadeth singing?

"In My Darkest Hour"

It says that it was inspired by the death of Cliff Burton, though this is debatable. The song was written on the day Dave found out Cliff died, though the lyrical content is of something quite different. Reference - Scorpion's Q&A at www.megadeth.com

But where does it come from? It's not the Vic Rattlehead redesign that won on deviantART; is it your own creation? Fan art? Dave's art?

In any case, this article has become very picture heavy, and a lot of those pictures are fair use, not free. The more pictures we include the less convincing our argument for having fair use to each one of those pictures becomes. I'm not going to revert ELF anymore on this, but the one at the very top of the page is against the style guidelines for Wikipedia, and we need to come to some sort of decision about which of the rest need to stay and which should go. -- nae'blis _(talk) 23:15, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Contradicted myself once I looked at the page history. ELF has been reported for WP:3RR violations, which is a shame because he seems to be making contributions otherwise (like possibly single-handedly building the Arsenal of Megadeth page, assuming that's not a copyvio. I had POV problems with him when he first started. After a few NPOV warnings on his talk page he lightened up on the deity pushing. He didn't appear to care too much about Wiki-policy. AGF was growing very thin. This page appeared in my VandalProof watchlist window more times than it needed to. A handful of users seem to be in agreement that all the images bog the article down. Most of the better music articles have no more than 3(or 4). Hopefully a concensus for this article can be found. Cheers! Anger22 23:59, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Can we all agree that this "Machovic Red" image has no place in this article, least of all at the top? I've just had to remove it from an edit done by 208.57.229.34 I can only assume that this is Emperador Lord Fenix. I think this article has to slim down on the images. Images In Article

It seems that the number of images in this article is becoming contentious. I myself believe that there is too many. It's nice to have a few for illustrative purposes, but there is no need for so many album covers. All the albums are linked to their own Wikipedia pages, where their cover art is shown. The article would be easier on the eye if the number of images was slimmed down. I'm not going to go and remove images now, because I know they would be re-instated.
