Documentation

[edit]

Documentation of this work was completed for a Museum Studies course focusing on Collections Care and Management at IUPUI. This documentation was also conducted for the larger project Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia Saves Public Art. The class project is attempting to give significant attention to and establishing valuable resources and information on the sculptures on IUPUI's campus. The undertaking is based on the Smithsonian Institution's Save Outdoor Sculpture! (SOS!) project that was spearheaded by thousands of volunteers to document and assess condition of outdoor sculpture around the country in the 1990s.

This sculpture is by a living artist whose work is noted as copyrighted. This would seem to preclude ever taking a photograph that would satisfy wikipedia's guidelines, though if someone corrects me on this point, I'm happy to upload one. The.urbanophile (talk) 02:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am currently working on the project Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia Saves Public Art! which involves students in an IUPUI Collections Care & Management course creating and organizing articles relating to public art on IUPUI's campus. I have been assigned Mega-Gem and will be contributing to this article in the coming weeks. The issue of copyright is going to be discussed and I will hopefully have an answer regarding using an image of the piece for this article. HstryQT (talk) 17:29, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
With the help of multiple Wikipedia editors and my classmates, I have finally uploaded images for Mega-Gem that follow all of the Wikipedia guidelines. Please see WP:CFAQ. So all should be well. HstryQT (talk) 00:06, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources problem

[edit]

Citations #3 and #13 here use {{cite web}}, but do not contain URLs. I also cannot find the documents by searching for their titles online. What should be done with them? Glades12 (talk) 17:01, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Art News is a magazine, so there's {{Cite magazine}} for that. I can't find any publication named Personal Communication and I'm wondering, especially given the weird title "Writing Article on Mega-Gem", whether it isn't mean to convey a literal personal communication on November 23, 2009, from Torreano (the sculptor of the work) himself to Wikipedia editor LoriLee (who last edited here four years ago), who referenced it in the article in two places the following day. This seems to fail WP:V and should be removed. Largoplazo (talk) 17:23, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I just removed the one referencing Torreano and replaced it with {{citation needed}}. Largoplazo (talk) 17:35, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have replaced the template in the one to Art News and tagged it as needing to specify an issue (perhaps also volume). Thank you for the quick response! Glades12 (talk) 05:25, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Still on display?

Is this work still on public display? ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:30, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
