Fascist Rectors translation glitch?

[edit]

Maybe just my ignorance, but I just wonder where the English rendering of Podestà as "Fascist Rectors" came from. It's a term I'd associate with university rectors [1]. 86.171.162.156 (talk) 09:22, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose the English name comes from the word "rettore", used in Medieval Italy in alternative with podestà, as is correctly stated in the first paragraph of this article: [2]. Saluti. --Broletto (talk) 12:01, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Grazie Broletto. I feel that podestà might be a more historically appropriate rendering here. (I'd be prepared to make the relevant changes to this and other similar lists if no substantial objection is made at WT:ITALY. Cheers, 86.171.162.156 (talk) 13:34, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree: the existing article "podestà" provides any useful explanation. Cheers. --Broletto (talk) 08:34, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done. With a link to Podestà#Fascist_era. (I'll trawl the other lists in spare moments.) Thanks Broletto, 86.171.162.156 (talk) 20:18, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
