Sourcing & info

[edit]

I am surprised at the lack of wikipedia information on Max. Please find an article here that explains the doctors career in greater detail. The source is the New York Sun newspaper online edition. The information in the article is not cited. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.198.252.116 (talk) 23:08, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree. This article needs some serious expansion, especially given the scope of the impact Jacobson had on JFK and others. A good source is also JFK: A Presidency Revealed, a documentary for classroom use from The History Channel, originally aired as a 3 part series on 15 May 2004. /Blaxthos ( t / c ) 01:21, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What about the story that he gave Mickey Mantle one of his "shots" in 1961 which gave him a badly infected hip and caused him to miss the end of the season and the world series? This was told in the 2001 film *61. I am sure there is a load of bad stories about these shots that somehow could be verified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Milepost53 (talkcontribs) 21:26, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect on JFK?

[edit]

I suspect the Kennedy information largely comes from a single source that keeps getting repeated by later authors. It seems to be that way with much libelous Kennedy information. Apparently the "I don't care if it's horse piss" line was supposedly said to his brother Robert. It's pretty clear such a conversation would have been in private and Robert wouldn't have gone gossiping about it to just anybody. That makes the entire quote very suspicious, especially since most sources don't bother mentioning to whom JFK supposedly said it.

There's an article and book by a psychiatrist that examined White House records that says Max Jacobson was fired in 1962. This would seem to be a good source to use since it's a professional who actually consulted the real records. An article by him is at https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mood-swings/201109/what-jackie-kennedy-didnt-say-and-didnt-know

Done. I have included this in the See Also external links section. Thank you for providing the URL. It gives necessary balance that, while the subject of this biographical article had a deleterious influence on JFK's presidency, it was recognized by White House physicians and appropriate action was taken so that JFK, who was chronically and probably terminally ill, was able to function with full use of his mental faculties once Max Jacobson's "treatment" of JFK as president ceased.--FeralOink (talk) 05:10, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, sorry, I added the URL in the wrong section initially. I have included it in the main body of the article where it properly belongs, section 1 at present, in the final sentence regarding JFK.--FeralOink (talk) 05:27, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Articles written by a person who read his unpublished memoirs

These are contrapuntal to the article.
