Matrons are also female gods, Germans and Celts worshipped them from about 1st century C.E.. look here for more http://www.friggasweb.org/matrons.html --89.51.85.27 14:18, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
Biased speech.
[edit]This article is obviously written by somebody who does not feel the "Modern Matron" position is well implemented. The entire article lacks information about matrons and focuses instead on disparaging remarks about modern matrons. This artcle should be deleted or rewritten.
- I agree it is perhaps a little strong, but everything that's in the article is the truth. MMs do not really have any power over the wards, they are not doing the old matron's job at all - they are simply a layer of management above the ward level which deals with complaints from patients and relatives. --John24601 07:20, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Republic of Ireland
[edit]A contribution about this would be useful: the Republic has a different system of health services.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 08:20, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
First paragraph is a mess
[edit]The first sentence of the first paragraph doesn't seem complete. It's "the very senior" what? "Chief" of what? And then a second sentence starts without the capital letter and lists variants, but it seems like it lacks some introductory form like "It is also called... [in these countries]". It still doesn't specify in what places those denominations are used. Kumagoro-42 02:05, 1 September 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kumagoro-42 (talk • contribs)
