Speedy deletion

[edit]

Why is the subject of the article not noteworthy? He is a high up academic, editor and author. Considering many Durham Principals who are of his academic note have their own articles, why not him?

See the following for articles of a related topic, who you might argue are of equal note, none of whom have speedy deletion pages, and indeed, whose articles have been present for a while on wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Sanday http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Henry_Bradby http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_George_Henderson

With regard to pages on academics, there are several non-durham academics who have articles of a similar calibre who you might argue showed little note, but whose articles remain:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aziz_Al-Azmeh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Prichard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Royle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_England http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodney_Hilton

...and that was just a 30 second search.

He is noteworthy under wikipedia noteworthy guideline for academics, criteria number 3, as an honorary fellow of the RCGP. One might also add that as a Principal of a Durham College he is noteworthy under criteria 5 or 6.
