A little help goes a long way

Martín de Ayamonte's contribution to the historiography of Mazaua, Magellan's lost harbor, is his name of the port being one more validation of the name "Mazaua." His spelling is "Maçava" which is exactly identical to "Mazaua" and the Butuaon language word, "masawa."

Geographical, linguistic, cartographic, historiographic findings generally affirm the language in the island-port was Butuanon. "Masawa" means brilliant light or dazzling light. It can also mean pure clarity.
