images for deletion

Note: Four images from this article were listed for deletion at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2005 September 18, which I moved to Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2005 September 23. You can edit the article to remove them, or you can object to the removal of one or all. I don't have an opinion on the subject (and have nothing to do with the nomination), but thought editors of the article should decide now, before they suddenly become red-links. The images are.

As I said on IfD, I took the photos and there's no reason to get rid of them. The school is falling down and if you took the other photos as a representation of the school at large then you would have a skewed view. I have no serious problem with the pics, but here's one *option* (to be done only with conensus): Have just two "good" pics and two "bad" pics. Extend the content of the article, to discuss the condition of the school. But, do this is in a fair and balanced way. The pictures should be an extension of the article ideally, more than a gallery. I actually now think showing at least some "negative" image(s) is pretty fair, since showing two or three "good" images, with no "bad" ones is very bias (though common for school articles, which tend to be pro-school admin) --rob 21:05, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

Vandalism

Please stop this pathetic vandalism, whoever it is, whether it's a student from this school or someone else. It is annoying for other users to remove vandalism continuousely. It also reflects badly on the school, so please think before editing, and if need be, use Sandbox mode.

St. Chloe school and Red Coat school

I suggest that the next project for this article should be to provide sub-articles for the above schools, to avoid the red internal links. Anyone know anything about these schools, or could suggest good starting points? Tinminer 11:50, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

ref link 1 refers to a website which is no longer updated and could dissapear soon. ref link 2's site no longer exists.

Discipline Policy

Mabye the Discipline Policy for Marling School Could be added? This could include detentions, Exlusions, Uniform Cards, Behaviour Cards and the Impero LAN Monitor

The Lock Affair

The whole section about roger Lock's dismissal was removed on the 9th by User:Lame Name. This was pretty quickly after Mr Lock had been sacked and his teaching license revoked [1]. The process is not complete, there will almost certainly be an appeal, especially a there are many unanswered questions, the most obvious being "what did he actually do wrong?".

I am going to revert the removal, add in the above reference.

Once the dismissal is resolved I would suggest a paragraph such as:

In 2008 the headmaster Roger Lock was suddenly dismissed because of XXXX. During the process questions were asked in the House of Commons about the dismissal process #ref#

Why is this suitable for an encyclopedic entry for Marling School? I can find no Hansard mention for Drew's reported intervention. Since when has Facebook been an acceptable source for referencing? To quote guidelines for notability... "Wikipedia is not a news source: it takes more than just a short burst of news reports about a single event or topic to constitute sufficient evidence of notability". I disagree. Controversies are nothing new to Wikipedia and this is one that has been around for some time.. It is not what the guidelines (and guidelines are not sancrosanct) describe as 'just a short burst of news reports.' Roger Lock was suspended six months ago and has now been dismissed. That in itself is notable. The governors' refusal to disclose the reason for his dismissal makes it even more so. It deserves inclusion. ♦ Jongleur100 ♦ talk 14:30, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
People are dismissed from their jobs everyday. Non of them are notable. If Lock meets WP:N then he should have his own article (keeping in mind WP:BLP). I would give it five minutes before a WP:SPEEDY. Lame Name (talk) 14:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

It's not a case of whether the individual concerned is notable or not. It's the circumstances surrounding his dismissal that is the issue. If the school itself is notable enough to warrant an article then such an event has to be notable. It is not in Hansard that long quote from David Drew MP in the 'local tabloid' but in personal correspondence ?original reserch? David said:

I have raised this issue regularly as I believe at best there is a miscarriage of justice in the way in which the Head has been sacked.

As I said at the head of this discussion I believe it is currently notable, and will always be so as he would be the first Headmaster sacked in this way in Marling's history. Cosnahang (talk) 19:51, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
As the dismissal process was completed some significant time ago now, isn't it time to implement the earlier suggestion to reduce the reference to Roger Lock's sacking to a single sentence in the History section. However in my view this should not reference the subject having been raised in the House of Commons, as due to the absence of any record in Hansard, it clearly wasn't. Recent edits

How can I be reducing the statistical accuracy of the article when I am correcting a mistake. The long and short corridors are army hospitals from World War 1, not 2. This is a fact so why change it back to the previous version when it is wrong? 84.71.102.161 08:56, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Notable alumni inclde the explorer, Paul Carter, who attended the school between 1992 and 1997
