Editing Information Due to Bias
[edit]This article contains the following sentence "Madden's views on Pittsburgh's three major professional sports teams are mixed. While Madden staunchly defends the Penguins, he has mixed views about the Pittsburgh Steelers and is harshly critical of the Pittsburgh Pirates."
I've re-worded it slightly because it appears slightly biased. As someone who listens to Madden's show every day, he does NOT "staunchly defend the Penguins." It's just that, logically, when a team wins 3 championships in the span of a decade, there tends to be less to criticize them for. However, even with their recent success, Madden is sometimes critical of head coach Mike Sullivan's line combinations of players, and the team's inability to pair Sidney Crosby with a winger who he deems good enough. He has also at times during 2018 began comparing Sullivan to a former coach, Dan Bylsma, for an unwillingness to alter gameplans when a particular plan is not working.
The source listed after this sentence shows his harsh criticism of the Pirates and mixed views on the Steelers, but shows no evidence of "staunchly defending the Penguins."
Therefore, I have reworded the sentence slightly, by changing the word "staunchly" to "usually." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1016:B008:1C5F:C59D:F921:4C3E:6EDD (talk) 19:50, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

- Looking at the history, we seem to have a revert war going on, but nobody is talking... I'm not going to get involved, other than to objecting to the wording of "former" - That's a POV issue. He didn't cease to be a sports radio host just because a station fired him. He is a sports talk host who as of today doesn't currently have employment. "Former" implies that he will never work again, which is speculative and violates the Wikpedia is not a Crystal Ball" principle. You editors better start talking on the talk page, or someone is going to come along and introduce you to the rules.StreamingRadioGuide (talk) 04:59, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- In my opinion, former only implies that he is no longer currently in that role. Funny that you say about Wikipedia not being a "Crystal Ball," but then you assume that he will again be employed as a radio talk show host. Guess you believe that it is ok to break out that old crystal ball on wikipedia when it suits. On a related note, in my opinion, if he never gets another radio gig in my life time, it will be too soon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.244.30.189 (talk) 22:17, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
July 2008 Rewrite
[edit]I've rewritten the article, removing all redundant information as well as most all trivial content. I'll leave it to somebody more senior to delete the fansite tag. Memphisheel (talk) 06:59, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Just a quick note unrelated to any of his commentary work. In terms of USA Street Hockey, he coached the under 20 team to the bronze medal at the World Junior Street Hockey Championships, held June 25-29 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. I smell a vandal
[edit]"He has openly expressed on his radio show that he fears that he may not be alive when Sidney Crosby falls way short of Wayne Gretzky's scoring records."
Doesn't seem like something an avid Crosby fan would say.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.68.100.16 (talk) 21:04, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Shaler

WCW
[edit]Does it strike anyone else as odd that the article says he's most well known for his WCW work, but his WCW stuff is almost the smallest part of the article? Should his WCW work section be expanded? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.150.8.132 (talk) 11:09, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
