The other Mark Ford
[edit]"Incidentally, a quick search on Wikipedia reveals another ‘Mark Ford’ who is a professional footballer. Ford as next poet laureate is certainly unlikely. Quite apart from anything, he does not yet have a large enough oeuvre. But perhaps in another ten years, in 2019, he may find himself fielding a phone call from the Department for Culture. After all, as he himself quoted earlier,‘The whirligig of time brings in strange revenges.’"[1] lol Pohick2 (talk) 04:17, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Helen Vendler didn't compare him to John Ashbery
[edit]Some semidoct booster wrote that Helen Vendler compared him to John Ashbery. Didn't say whether Helen Vendler was a reputable comparer, whether she compared him favourably or unfavourably, or in what respect. But I looked up the article and she didn't even do that. She wrote about his influence on Ford (hardly surprising given that he did a PhD on Ashbery!) Can someone delete this please! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.28.78.133 (talk) 23:07, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Deleting Literateur Links
[edit]Dear MrOllie - I did not realise that it was against rules to add links to sites one is affiliated with even if it is not spam and relevant to the article. Although the magazine is non-profit and there is absolutely no financial advantage in linking for me and despite the fact that the interviews on the site are almost always the most recent one available (or indeed the only one in the case of Mark Ford), I have ceased from linking to The Literateur because of this. However please can you stop deleting ALL links to The Literateur. The link added by Pohick2 has nothing to do with me or anyone I know. As you would have been able to tell if you had checked Pohick2's contribution history, his links are not all Literateur links. My username is YoungPossum. We do happen to have many readers and all links to the site are not by me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Youngpossum (talk • contribs)
MrOllie Deleting Literateur Links 2
[edit]@MrOllie, I am dismayed to find that you have been deleting every single link to The Literateur you can get your hands on. As I made it clear in the message below the link from this page to The Literateur website was done by someone completely unknown to me (the Pohick of below) and he or she is NOT affiliated with this nonprofit magazine.
As I have said below and will say again, once you alerted me to the conflict of interest guidelines I have refrained from adding links to articles on writers we have interviewed, EVEN if it is the only interview online and it is clearly in the interest of readers. I have undone your deletion since the link was made by Pohick and not myself.
I understand that you are trying to prevent spam and I thanked you for your helpfulness in alerting me to the ins and outs of COI behaviour. However your wholesale deletions of links added not by me are starting to look like some kind of bizarre vendetta against a small nonprofit literary magazine founded to encourage literary life. So please refrain from wholesale deletions. The subsequent links to The Literateur are NOT by me. Thank you in advance for your understanding. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Youngpossum (talk • contribs) 22:02, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- Kindly stop adding links to sites you are affiliated with. - MrOllie (talk) 23:35, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- You're not actually listening to me are you? I have stopped. You just insist on deleting any link to The Literateur made by people other than me!. The last link to the Literateur was made by Pohick, not myself. Pohick has nothing to do with me. If you do not stop this bizarre vendetta I will be opening a dispute. I have tried to ask you politely and you aren't even listening. Youngpossum--88.224.220.88 (talk) 07:11, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- Feel free to open a discussion wherever you feel is necessary. I would suggest Wikipedia:External links/Noticeboard. - MrOllie (talk) 12:20, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
