I think the sentence "He was sentenced to six life sentences for his crime, but, after serving 15 years in jail, he was paroled and freed in 1998" is not clear enough. Mario Moretti was not really freed in 1998 : he can work outside the prison, but he has to come back to jail every night and week-end. I don't know the English expression for it, but in French this is called "semi-liberté" ("half freedom"). (my source is the French translation of the book Brigate rosse. Una stora italiana). There is a problem here. One of the books, Mosca & Rossanda, is based on a series of interviews with Moretti. The book therefore gives his side of the story, and to my knowledge it does not contain any information about his alleged middle-class, right-wing, family background.
