The "Johnson" thing

[edit]

Marcie was never given a surname in the comic strip. The name Johnson comes from a TV special; therefore, it is not her "official" name. [1] The title of this article should be "Marcie" or "Marcie (Peanuts)". Rockhopper10r 20:12, 12 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Unless if you're doing a fanfiction about "PEANUTS", where everything can't be "by the book" (or in this case, "by the strip").

Marcie vs. Marcy

[edit]

Naughtyned, can you provide an example of a time when Schulz referred to this character as Marcy? It seems to me he would be consistent with the spelling of his characters' names within his own comic strip, and I've always seen it spelled Marcie. Example: [2] --Birdhombre 16:35, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Both the Official Peanuts web site [3] and the Peanuts FAQ cited above [4] use the spelling "Marcie".Rockhopper10r 21:55, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I could have sworn I saw it in print as Marcie, but I haven't been able to find an example, so I'll have to concede that you are right.--Naughtyned 07:02, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I assume you meant to say you had seen it as "Marcy". It's possible you saw it that way somewhere, but I just spot-checked some Peanuts books, and Schulz definitely spelled it as "Marcie". That doesn't mean he might not have slipped up sometime and spelled it the other way. If so, it would be a interesting bit of trivia. Good luck finding it. :) Wahkeenah 07:11, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be sure to let you know if I do.--Naughtyned 07:37, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Other Peanuts wikipedia character articles are illustrated with an image of the character. Can Marcie's image be added? Kaltenmeyer (talk) 20:25, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Marcie's last name is CARLIN!?

[edit]

I saw that Marcie's last name is Carlin. Well it isn't. Anyone remove the Carlin in the main section:

Before:

Marcie Carlin is a fictional character featured in the long-running syndicated daily and Sunday comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz.

Marcie is a studious girl but is sometimes depicted as being terrible at sports. She has befriended the tomboyish, athletic Peppermint Patty, and she has a mostly unrequited crush on the underdog Charlie Brown.

Marcie has appeared outside the comic strip, featured in numerous Peanuts television specials, cinematic films, theatrical plays, and video games.

Inaccuracies?

[edit]

I'm not enough of a Marcie expert that I want to start making revisions to the article; but I've recently reread a bunch of earlyish strips featuring PP and Marcie, and I note that in some of these strips, Marcie seems to have a natural excellence in baseball, though she hates the game and plays under protest. So I think she's not consistently inept at sports, despite being unathletic through lack of interest. Also, is it really true that PP describes Marcie as "dorky" in her earliest appearances? That seems possibly anachronistic to me for the time. Jcejhay (talk) 13:58, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

She does indeed call her dorky in the July 20, 1971 strip. --Nat Gertler (talk) 14:37, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is Marcie Asian?

[edit]

I was just wondering because when I saw Marcie in peanuts she looked like she was an Asian character. Minecraft812 (talk) 23:38, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Highly doubt that :) Peperment patty273 (talk) 16:54, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
