Removed Wikipedia section
[edit]In this edit I removed a section about a single mention in Berlins' column in which he discusses Wikipedia. This has been in the article since its inception; indeed I guess that column was the catalyst for this article's creation. Nevertheless, it's not an especially notable entry in his column (he's been writing it for years, and has expressed a wide variety of opinions on a range of subjects). His wikipedia comment is nothing special: he's not a noted or frequent commentator on, or critic of, Wikipedia, and this comment doesn't appear to have been picked up by others, reported elsewhere, or had any other repercussions. So it's not especially noteworthy, and given that we don't detail his opinions expressed in his hundreds of other columns, this seems to be in Wikipedia solely because it's about Wikipedia. WP:SELF notes:
When a notable person, especially a writer or media personality, mentions Wikipedia, there may be a temptation to add any such mention to their Wikipedia article. However, to avoid self reference, this needs to be balanced with its importance in their overall body of work. For example, a radio host mentioning on one show that he read his Wikipedia biography is not a very important event in his overall career
I don't believe there's any evidence that this one mention has any importance whatever in Berlins' body of work. -- Finlay McWalter • Talk 11:37, 26 August 2009 (UTC) .

Jewish?
[edit]Yes, his parents are described as being "of Latvian-Jewish origin". Does that make him Jewish? Did he self-identify as Jewish? Did he practice Judaism? These details seem to be notably lacking in his obituary notices. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:26, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
Nationality
[edit]The article supports the claim that Berlins was French, not that he was British. Is there any source that supports the latter claim? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:52, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
