Manny's WBC world super featherweight title is currently listed under minor titles. the WBC are one of the 4 major boxing bodies? if there is no objection within next 48 hours i'll update it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.168.124.50 (talk) 09:36, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
HE IS A SIX-TIME WORLD CHAMPION!!!
As of September 27, 2011. Manny Pacquiao is a six-time division world champion. Many believe that Pacquiao is an eight-time world champion, which is totally a myth. You know why? Because of the two reasons. First reason, his The Ring Featherweight World Title which he won against the Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera in 126lb. division is not a major world title. The boxing world only consider four major World Title, which is WBC,WBA,IBF & WBO. And the rest is just a minor titles. So it means that after the time he badly beated Barrera, he is just a two-time world champion, not a three-time. Second reason would be at the 140lb. division against the hitman Ricky Hatton. His International Boxing Organization(IBO) is another kind of minor titles. As I mentioned earlier, only four boxing body organization is considered a legitimate world titles. So it means that Manny Pacquiao is just a six-time world boxing champion.DAVERYANCARINO (talk) 06:53, 11 October 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by DAVERYANCARINO (talk • contribs) 10:48, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
His birthplace
I'm not certain about whether he was actually born in Kibawe, Bukidnon but his birth certificate definitely says he was born in Baluan, General Santos City, weighing 3629 grams. This can easily be confirmed by contacting his congressional staff at the House of Representatives. He was registered late, which might explain the confusion (the certificate is marked with 'Delayed Registration'). It is possible that he was born in Kibawe but registered in General Santos but Cong. Pacquiao himself has said he was born in General Santos as he says that's what's indicated in his birth certificate.Mabs1214 (talk) 09:11, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

I think this reference will prove that manny is really from Glan Sarangani Province
- We really need references on that claim. --Howard the Duck 15:58, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- How then can explain the enormous amount of Kibawe references? And also, it makes sense we won't use another Wikipedia language, web forums, blogs and Philippinecountry.com (not really the best website for these kinds of things) as an appropriate and reliable references. Only the Sunstar ref looks legit but other newspapers either cite a GenSan or Kibawe birthplace. And Sunstar is a regional newspaper; I'd rather trust a national newspaper. --Howard the Duck 05:01, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- I currently live a few hours from Kibawe, and yes I can confirm that he was BORN in Kibawe and grew up in General Santos. I've repeatedly heard the same thing from news articles for years. Do note that they moved immediately after his birth which explains why Pacquiao has stronger ties with GenSan.--203.111.229.158 (talk) 10:20, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

an issue regarding Manny Pacquiao's height
Can editors please change his height. Manny Pacquiao's height has seemed to fluctuate upwards along with his nascent boxing career. I find it hard to believe that a fully grown adult would add almost an inch and a half to his height.
Various sources have Manny's height down to 5'5 and that's pushing it with 5'4.5 being more likely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rooster6630 (talk • contribs) 13:09, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Also, am I right in thinking that currently his listed reach is actually longer than his listed height? A reach of 170cm is impressive for someone who isn't even six feet tall. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.176.105.35 (talk) 12:29, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Issue regarding Manny Pacquiao's Official Website
The External Link to Manny Pacquiao's official website is incorrect. It is currently pointing to pacman.craveonline.com, but that is not correct. The Official Site is www.mpboxing.com and you can visit this URL http://atomiconline.com/news/mpboxingcom-release/ to confirm. It's a press release written by the president of Craveonline, stating that pacman.craveonline.com had the rights to the official blog, but not the official website. The official website has always been www.mpboxing.com. Can we please get an editor to update that? Thanks. - FightHype 22:55, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Residency
Someone, an IP editor has listed her in the List of Filipino Americans recently. This will be reverted as there is no cited reference from a reliable source stating that she now resides (permanently) in the United States, the minimal threshold to which she can be included as a Filipino American. To the best of my knowledge she is still a Citizen of the Philippines, and has not began the Naturalization process for any nation. If someone has any information regarding this, it would be greatly appreciated.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 09:28, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Steroid use accusations
Wikipedia is supposed to be an impartial encyclopedia.A notable part of the boxing community including Teddy Atlas,Oscar De La hoya has accused Manny Pacquao of taking Steroids. The accusations were never proven but it is an important part of Manny Pacquaio's career in the USA This problem had a section on wikipedia but the Pacquaio fans deleted it.It was filled with reliable sources.I wish for this section to be put back as deleting it contradictis wikipedia regulations.Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.201.44.247 (talk) 05:07, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

The accusations themselves are facts..Wikipedia supports facts. And the accusations are facts supported by sources. And they are made by important members of the boxing community:Teddy Atlas,Oscar De la Hoya,Floyd Maywetaher Sr and Jr.And all of them do have reliable sources.Deleting them is illegal.I will restore them as soon I will find the sources and in case of deletion I will continue the case to the central complaint section and to the wikipedia administrators of the English section.I'm glad that Pacquaio has hardcore fans but this is an encyclopedia not a fansite. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neohertz (talk • contribs) 05:16, 28 May 2011 (UTC) This is what WB:BPL states about cristicism and praises Criticism and praise Criticism and praise should be included if they can be sourced to reliable secondary sources, so long as the material is presented responsibly, conservatively, and in a disinterested tone. - Also this is what is says about gossip
- Avoid gossip and feedback loops
Policy shortcut: WP:BLPGOSSIP Avoid repeating gossip. Ask yourself whether the source is reliable; whether the material is being presented as true; and whether, even if true, it is relevant to a disinterested article about the subject. Be wary of sources that use weasel words and that attribute material to anonymous sources. Also beware of feedback loops, in which material in a Wikipedia article gets picked up by a source, which is later cited in the Wikipedia article to support the original edit.
- 1.The sources are reliable
- 2.The aterial si presented in the way it was innitially statedby the accusers.
- 3.Is relevant to the article as Pacquaio career in the USA following the Maywetaher negociations has been dominated by these accusations.
- 4.There is no feedback loop
- So I guess the Steroid accusation section must be reput into place otherwise RIngMagazine and other major US televisions become unreliable sources which is a bid absurd considering that all boxing articles are based on them
- Moreover here is what Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons states:
- Editors must take particular care when adding information about living persons to any Wikipedia page.[1] Such material requires a high degree of sensitivity, and must adhere strictly to all applicable laws in the United States, to this policy, and to Wikipedia's three core content policies:
- Neutral point of view (NPOV)
- Verifiability (V)
- No original research (NOR)
- The neutrality of the article NPOV has been virtually demolished by the countles fan postings and elimination of relevant information backed by sources.I'm sorry this is not how a wikipedia page should be organized.

Racist nickname
The Mexicutioner is an incredibly offensive nickname that even Pacquiao himself renounces of his fans. Please get rid of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.128.53.89 (talk) 18:28, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- None of the nicknames is cited. Nor is there any obvious support for any of them in the body of the article. For the moment, I've added a tag to the nicknames, along with an internal reason saying the tag applies to ALL of them. I will remove the nicknames if no one comes up with any sources for them. Can you explain why Mexicutioner in particular is "offensive"? Sources supporting your explanation would be helpful.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:29, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Filipino flag icon in infobox
I removed the flag per WP:MOSFLAG, which is very clear on this point:
Generally, flag icons should not be used in infoboxes, even when there is a "country", "nationality" or equivalent field: they are unnecessarily distracting and give undue prominence to one field among many.
In my edit summary, I noted the guideline. Doughn insists on keeping the flag in, apparently simply because the same ignorance of the guideline exists in other articles. That's not a valid reason for going against guidelines. See WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS.
Doughn - and anyone else - is welcome to provide legitimate reasons why the flag should be retained. Otherwise, I will remove it.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:32, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

HE IS A SIX-TIME BOXING WORLD CHAMPION
As of September 27, 2011, Manny Pacquiao is a six-time division world champion. Many believe that Pacquiao is an eight-time world champion, which is totally a myth. You want to know why? It is because of two reasons. First, The Ring Featherweight World Title which he won against the Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera in 126lb. division is not a major world title. The boxing world only consider four major World Title namely, WBC,WBA,IBF & WBO. And the rest are just minor world titles. Therefore after the time Manny badly beated Barrera, he is still a two-time world champion and not a three-time. Second reason is at the 140lb. division against the hitman Ricky Hatton. His International Boxing Organization(IBO)title is another kind of minor world title. As I mentioned earlier, only four boxing body organization are considered legitimate world titles. I noticed there is a section in the Wikipedia write-up about Manny Pacquiao endorsing Nike. It will be useful to also note that one of his advertisements was actually shut down by the Advertising Standards Council of the Philippines for "being insensitive to religious beliefs".
