Name
[edit]According to a statement from the State Administration Council, the government is designated as the caretaker government. The role of Acting President Myint Swe has not been clearly defined.Myint Swe attended the first Union Government meeting at the Presidential Palace after the coup from the second place of the table.[1]Min Aung Hlaing attended the place where the President used to attend.Later the President Office became the office of the Chairman of SAC.In addition, acting president Myint Swe has disappeared from public view since February.Min Aung Hlaing only led the meetings of cabinet. In early June 2021, the Chairman of the International Committee of the Red Cross was received by Min Aung Hlaing as Chairman of SAC at the Diplomatic Lounge (presidential palace), which was previously used only by the Presidents. No one knows Myint Swe's role.On 1 August, SAC formed caretaker government by replacing Management Committee of SAC.According to their statement caretaker government is led by Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing (Chairman of SAC) and composed with Deputy Prime Minister (Vice Chairman of SAC), Union Ministers, Attorney General and Permanent Secretary of caretaker government.[2]Myint Swe is not included. Therefore, it is not appropriate to name "Myint Swe's Cabinet" without Myint Swe.Normally, the president is the head of state, but there is no specific timeline for state of emergency.Kantabon (talk) 15:43, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
- Kantabon, on it. You've made some very good points. It appears that after appointing the SAC, Myint Swe essentially disappeared. He's referred to in this government publication as "the then Acting President", so he may not even be in the picture anymore. It was made clear by this SAC order that the Management Committee formed by the SAC was the cabinet (it had the union ministers in it), and it did not have the president in it. The order announces that the Management Committee was essentially just renamed to the Provisional Government. So, I've moved this article to "Management Committee of the State Administration Council", and I believe we should merge Caretaker Government of Myanmar (2021) here, since it's just a rename of the Management Committee. A lot about this very messy situation is becoming more clear as time passes. ― Tartan357 Talk 05:46, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
