Reverted edits

[edit]

Hi, I've reverted the edit made by 128.8.143.140 for the following reasons:

  • I think it is important to mention that the Mahar Regiment is one of the only regiments in the Indian Army to recruit troops from all over India.
  • I don't think the phrase "recruits from a broader field" is strictly grammatically correct.

WikiProject class rating

[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 18:39, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some statements related to General Lord Roberts' study seem to highly violate Wikipedia's non-bias and neutral-point-of-view policy. They don't seem to be fair to some communities. This could enrage them. They should be deleted. If we go by the history then we see that the Mughals never controlled the Deccan. Infact, the Marathas(although hugely outnumbered by Mughals) repulsed all Mughal attacks and inflicted huge casualties on the Mughals(having mostly Northern and North-Western men).Kesangh (talk)

Hi, could you please specify what specifically in the section "The Martial Races Theory and Disbandment" you think violates NPOV? Thanks. --Kunal (Talk) 17:04, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Overview

[edit]

User:Diannaa

Quotes of the scholars must be copied as it is you can change it. Most of the content I wrote by myself so I advise you to not revert my work Ghoshpreet singh (talk) 04:02, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Diannaa

User:Ghoshpreet singh You are correct the overview article was one of the best article that was ever written on Mahar Regiment. I believe this User:Diannaa guy is hard core casteist person he cant digest lower cast (according to Diannaa) Mahar is getting so much praise. If wikipedia doesnt take approapriate action against him we should consider booking him under SC/ST prevention act. We have clear evidence he is being casteist.

Wait brother we have asked User:Diannaa to give explanation about why reverted the overview section. He needs to give explanation for each and every line, like if he has removed one line he needs to give explanation why he removed the line likewise for all lines he removed. If he doesn't show up here with explanation within 2 to 3 working days then you can consider booking him. Ghoshpreet singh (talk) 05:43, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition was flagged by a bot as a potential copyright issue and was assessed by myself. Here is a link to the bot report. Click on the iThenticate link to view what the bot found. You will immediately see why the extent of the overlap led me to remove it all.— Diannaa (talk) 04:45, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Okay but due to quotes there will be overlap, about remaining contents I will improve it and will try to write it in my own words as much as possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:4042:291:C3FE:8C4B:8C3B:5F32:8704 (talk) 07:33, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why have you posted false information about me above? I am not casteist and have not said that Mahar is getting so much praise. I live in Canada - we don't even have castes in this country, and only removed the addition because it was a violation of our copyright policy. Please don't make things up about me.
Also, when you say you will " consider booking him under SC/ST prevention act" it is a legal threat, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Please see Wikipedia:No legal threatsDiannaa (talk) 12:35, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You need to withdraw the legal threat or you will be blocked from editing.— Diannaa (talk) 12:39, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Borrow from Mahar

[edit]

Mahar started service to British around 1740. In British army they participated in various wars including Bhima Koregaon Battle. This article start with "Disbandment of Regiment in 1890". No attention is paid to previous military history of Mahars. I can see on Mahar page the history is well written. So it's better that we borrow info from Mahar page and add that info over here. Whoever managing this page I request him/her to put your views here Thank You. Prem Mathurr (talk) 12:00, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This page is about the Mahar Regiment, not the military history of the Mahars. It should start when the regiment was established. Anything more than the immediately previous activities of the Mahar in British service will be removed. Buckshot06 (talk) 14:26, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

According to your argument As Mahar regiment was established in 1941 so it's history should start from 1941, In 1890 the recruitment of Mahar was stopped not that Mahar regiment was Disbanded in fact Mahar Regiment was not present at that time.Using your argument we have to remove "Disbandement Section" as it is related to recruitment of Mahar and it has nothing to do with Mahar Regiment. let's start the Mahar Regiment article from 1941 the year in which the regiment was properly established.

I don't agree with your argument, active participation of Mahars in British Army in various Wars is the reason why we today have "Mahar Regiment" established. I believe that actual journey of "Mahar Regiment" start from 1740. Wikipedia readers have right to know this journey of Mahars. I request other users to present their view on wheather should we add proper journey of Mahar Regiment or should we start from 1941(it involves removing Disbandement section) Thank you Prem Mathurr (talk) 17:23, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the article after I made these comments and saw the 'disbandment' section. Happy to keep that, but it shouldn't be extended further back into the past. But you ought to consider creating Military history of the Mahar if there's lots more to write before 1890. Buckshot06 (talk) 18:12, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay thanks the information I am planning to add won't be that long it will have 2 to 3 paragraphs and 1 or 2 quotes in the praise of Mahars Prem Mathurr (talk) 18:33, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Maharas were the untouchables of Maharashtra.

[edit]

Historical, Mahars were the untouchables of Maharashtra. It needs a mention here, its not a term to be proud of, but to be always remember.

Army was a revolution for this caste back then, as was education in 19th century, when they were allowed to. 2607:FEA8:4C40:1910:945D:B69C:D43C:1CD0 (talk) 13:07, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
