Bits & pieces

[edit]

Following the discussion on this ship and deleting this I decided to do a little checking experiment and found a few more bits and pieces. The most interesting is *Legend of a Steamer: The John J. Boland (Inland Seas, Quarterly Journal, Great Lakes Historical Socity; Vol. 53, Spring 1997, No. 1) with a personal account of arriving as crew aboard. There is more "notability" for the ship as Boland than the later name and it appears the ship was a size and type with a particular niche in the Great Lakes's smaller ports, though I'd expect this pretty ordinary ship "life story" to never progress past "stub" status. I personally think such brief descriptions should be grouped within larger context such as shipping lines, builders or particular designs. Palmeira (talk) 05:02, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
