The result of the move request was: moved to Luca Ricci (Italian footballer)
I find there is is no consensus to move Luca Ricci (Canadian soccer) so that article will remain where it is.
I find there is a strong consensus to move Luca Ricci, but no consensus as to where to move it, with editors being roughly evenly split between Luca Ricci (footballer, born 1989) and Luca Ricci (Italian footballer). Per WP:OTHEROPTIONS I must pick one of the options. Because there is no consensus to move the other article, Luca Ricci (Italian footballer) is more WP:CONSISTENT and I will make that move.
Any editor who disagrees or has a better suggestion may make a fresh RM.
There is consensus that Luca Ricci should become a DAB page. I leave the construction of that page to an editor with knowledge of the subject matter. (non-admin closure) Havelock Jones (talk) 15:43, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
- Luca Ricci → Luca Ricci (footballer, born 1989)
- Luca Ricci (Canadian soccer) → Luca Ricci (soccer, born 1998)
– neither appears to be PRIMARY name. Standard is to just use soccer/footballer as basic disambiguator. Also creation of a DAB page RedPatch (talk) 13:07, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

- Support per nom, no PRIMARYTOPIC, and turn base into dab. GiantSnowman 13:57, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- Move Luca Ricci to Luca Ricci (Italian footballer) and leave Luca Ricci (Canadian soccer) as is, per WP:NCP and WP:NCSP, with Luca Ricci becoming a dab page. It's easier to tell people apart by nationality than birthdate when they are relatively close together. Station1 (talk) 00:35, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- Disagree in this case, since the Canadian soccer player is also of Italian descent (some other online databases list him as having Italian nationality as well). Birth year is preferred in this case.--Ortizesp (talk) 05:46, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 05:46, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Move to Luca Ricci (Italian footballer) per Station1, clear and obvious disambiguation. The other one has only played within Canada, and his apparent Italian descent does not matter a iota. No such user (talk) 14:52, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
- Support - the preferred disambiguator is the year of birth, rather than the (fluid) nationality. Nehme1499 11:09, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- Preferred by whom? While sportspeople tend to change nationality somewhat more easily than other people, it's still a rare enough event that can be dealt on case-by-case basis, especially as it's unilkely to cause disambiguation problems. No such user (talk) 20:28, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- @No such user: By the WP:NFOOTY community. The issue doesn't only revolve around changing nationalities, but also dual-citizenship. Nehme1499 13:33, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- The "NFOOTY community" has no particular authority to overrule our WP:Article titles policy, which clearly state "recognizability" as one of the key planks of article titling. As such, nationalities are better than birth years, and there's no evidence that these two individuals have fluid nationalitites. — Amakuru (talk) 15:49, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

- Move to Luca Ricci (Italian footballer) and leave Luca Ricci (Canadian soccer) as is, per No such user and Station1. This is clearly a much more useful form of disambiguation, and the "Italian descent" speculation is irrelevant here. The guy is clearly Canadian, and nationality is a far better disambiguator for our readers than a birth year that most will be unaware of. — Amakuru (talk) 15:47, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- Italian descent speculation isn't irrelevant, if you are of Italian descent you are automatically eligible to play for the Italian national team and most likely have a passport. It's not unlikely he has the passport already, since as both of the Canadian's parents are Italian and his mother was born in Calabria, as noted here.--Ortizesp (talk) 17:09, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- Like I said, speculation. If you have a source saying he's Italian, rather than what you think is "not unlikely" then let's see it. Otherwise, let's leave the original research to the sources, which describe him as Canadian.
- It's a fact that he's Italian-Canadian, whether he's an Italian citizen or not.--Ortizesp (talk) 18:11, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
