High Table is currently for all seniors, not just selected ones.
In the late 80s, Adams was home of Gothic bisexuals, Lowell was "yellow", Dunster was Eurotash, Eliot was old money ... I have talked to alumni from the 70s who say at that time, Adams was a jock house.

Here's an item for possible inclusion--what do people think? Before the houses were homogenised by nanny-state randomisation, many houses had reputations: Kirkland was full of jocks, Adams full of gays, Mather was boring, North House was full of nerds and sociopaths. Lowell had the reputation of attracting wealthy foreigners, affectionatley known as "Eurotrash" or "Eurofags". (This was in the late 70s / early 80s; you probably couldn't say things like that at Harvard now that Orwellian speech rules have apparently come into effect.) Would anyone throw a wobbly if we added that information?
Also the tradtion of "High Table" should be mentioned, when selected seniors got to dress up and dine on tablecloths with some invited luminary and then repair to the SCR for sherry. (Do they still do this?) Many a time I carted home half-finished bottles of cheap red Spanish wine after my shift, which were later consumed with Oreo cookies from box lunches that were ordered but hadn't been picked up.
I'll await comments before putting these in article
As for the house "personalities," I have heard some differences--Eliot was the jock house, Adams was the gay/arts house, but Lowell was the nerdy house. This was the reputation reported to me (I graduated in 2008 from Lowell) by a resident who graduated in the 80s. As an aside--stealing high table wine is a high art. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BeebleBrox6 (talk • contribs) 06:12, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
You'll have a hard time finding evidence that any house was the sociopath/jock/druggie/gay/whatever house. These reputations were just that: they changed over time, had no sponsorship (certainly not from the houses) and were not fair representations of all the students that lived there. Saying a house had any one reputation over a certain 5 year timespan isn't saying much at all-- you could say as much for any dorm, frat, or apartment complex across the nation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.61.13.177 (talk) 20:07, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
