On 8 August 2019, it was proposed that this article be moved from Love Island (2005 TV series) to Love Island (British 2005 TV series). The result of the discussion was leave this article at its current title. |
Untitled
[edit]"The show was so badly received by viewers and critics that the word 'Celebrity' is now seen as tainted by UK television companies. An interesting example was Sky TV's celebrity golf tournament, broadcast on Sky One on the August Bank Holiday weekend 2005, was called "All Star Cup" and Sky were careful not to use the C-word in programme trailers."
This seems like a personal opinion, and also contridicts the fact the previous series had better ratings than Big Brother.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Markyboi (talk • contribs) 21:20, 10 July 2006.
When is the 2006 series soon the end, and will there be a third series for 2007? James Forde 15:33, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Who is Leo Ihenacho?
[edit]It says he's in the Streets, but I always thought the Streets was just another name for Mike Skinner? The Streets article doesn't mention Leo. --Awiseman 18:34, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Eviction Night?
[edit]There was suppose to be an eviction night yesterday. Have Patrick and Fearne forgotten? James Forde 09:10, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Isn't it because Shayne left earlier in the week. I think that's what they said. GMctalk 12:47, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Series 3?
[edit]Where is the information to say that there is going to be a series three? Love island didnt have good viewing figures except for the first few shows and the last few ?
OK and what is the show actually about?
[edit]It isn't stated anywhere in the article, and it should be the cornerstone of it rather than publicizing somebody's rumblings about it and loads of gossip. I still have no idea what was the plot. Bravada, talk - 13:58, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ditto - especially as it had such low ratings. Alihaig 13:54, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly. The article assumes one already knows what the show is about and what the rules are, but surely that is exactly what it is meant to explain? Captain Chaos (talk) 10:59, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- A third to all this. Were they all supposed to hook up? Or was it more like Survivor? Evil Monkey - Hello 08:39, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- I came to the page searching for exactly that information. I'm no wiser than before I read the article. Theshadowgallery, talk - 14:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Me too. I came across a reference to this show in the paper today and wondered what the premise of the program was.74.130.83.210 (talk) 12:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
I add my voice too. I do NOT have a TV for the past 9 years of my life, and I ended up in this page because I use a random wikipedia page as my home page. This article did not explain to me what was the goal of the show. I mean, did they just sit and get voted out, did they have to pass some tests and based on results they would be eligible for being thrown out, where there quizzes and questions to be answered? I find this a mediocre article because it tells us everything around the subject, except for what this subject is about... I wish I could fix it, but as mentioned before, I'm not a TV expert to put it mildly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.210.83.107 (talk) 15:22, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- Since you asked about this, I actually thought about rewriting the article, but I couldn't think of the point either. I shamefully did watch a couple of episodes in the first series of this but totally lost interest when I realised this was basically a glorified version of Celebrity Big Brother. I don't know what the point of the show was, or really what they did on it, so I'm not going to touch the text. My guess is, most people are going to think the way most of us here seem to do, that this show was the most pointless waste of TV known to man. I believe Bianca Gascoigne won a series of it, and anything she can win has got to be pointless. Sky83 (talk) 10:49, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
There is no way this person should be redirected to here. As much as we may not like it, and personally I couldn't care less about her, she is actually a celebrity and should certainly have an article of her own. The decision to have a redirect pointing here is ridiculous. If anyone would like to create an article, I would support that. Sky83 (talk) 10:45, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
I have noticed that she was getting redirected to here so I have edited her page so the redirection has gone and there is a blank page left. If anyone want to contribute to her page then feel free to do so. As if the page is left blank for too long its more than likely to get deleted. --Onshore (talk) 13:16, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
After the BBC documentary "Glamour Models, Mum and Me" aired a few days ago, I was very surprised that Alicia Douvall did not have her own article. I mean she's not an A-lister, but certainly more notable than most of the Z-listers. I'm not a fan and I personally dislike the fact that someone can become famous just by getting naked or bonking a famous footballer, but I would have thought most people in the UK had at least heard of Alicia Douvall... --C 1 (talk) 08:40, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

– The original series is no longer the primary topic. The revived series and original series have almost the same number of views, with the revival receiving around 1,000 more. I would also bet that some people who searched "Love Island" were looking for the revived version anyway.[1] Unreal7 (talk) 21:16, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Change the name of the 2005 series
[edit]Love island (2005 TV Series) should be changed to Celebrity Love Island (British TV Series). This makes more sense as the name of the current Love Island Series has been changed already. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slindsell15 (talk • contribs) 15:16, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
