I am the person whose career is described in the page "Louis Legendre (oceanographer). Hence I am in conflict of interest for the page "Louis Legendre (oceanographer). Many aspects of my situation have changed since this page was created, and the present page is quite outdated. - Ocean Louis, first of all congratulations on these awards and on a very successful career. However, I think that it is not appropriate to mention this many awards in an encyclopedia article. I was wondering if you would be willing to select five awards, among all the ones you have received, to keep in the article. We could preface this small list by saying "Legendre received numerous awards and honours", as is customary for articles on prolific scientists. Thank you. JBchrch talk 12:20, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Ocean Louis and JBchrch: Hello, this request has been answered and I ask that you please honor it. The updated list of accolades is not all-inclusive and so the section heading Select awards and honors still fits the page. For reference, I did review several good articles on scientists with longer lists of accolades (Katherine Johnson, Marie Curie, Vera Rubin) and found that some scientists have a separate page dedicated to their accolades (Niehls Bohr, Einstein). Thanks, Heartmusic678 (talk) 17:04, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Heartmusic678: I'm not going to make a big fuss about it because it's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, however please note that it is fairly uncivil of you to go against the opinion I had expressed regarding this edit request without discussing it first. JBchrch talk 17:12, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- @JBchrch: I'm sorry for any upset I may have caused; it was not ever my intention to come across that way. I had hoped that sharing my previous comment would be enough. Kindly, Heartmusic678 (talk) 17:19, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia article Louis Legendre (oceanographer)
• In the Section "Academic career", please add "from 2001 to 2010" after "was director of the Villefranche Oceanography Laboratory"
• I am the person described in the Wikipedia article, and I am thus in conflict of interest. However, the article dates several years back although it was partly updated recently, and many events occurred in my career since the article was written. One of them is the period of my tenure as director of the Villefranche Oceanography Laboratory.
• References supporting the change: https://www.eurasc.org/user/394/louis-legendre; https://www.ae-info.org/ae/Member/Legendre_Louis
• In the Section "Academic career", please replace "He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a Knight of the Order of Saint-Charles." by "He is an elected member of four academies of sciences (Royal Society of Canada, European Academy of Sciences, Academia Europaea, and Chinese Academy of Sciences), an Honorary Doctor of the University of Liège, Belgium, and a Knight of the Order of Saint-Charles, Principality of Monaco."
• I am the person described in the Wikipedia article, and I am thus in conflict of interest. When the article was written, I was a member (fellow) of the Royal Society of Canada; since then, I have been elected to three other academies of sciences. Two other special distinctions are my honoraru doctorate from the University of Liège and my knighthood of Saint-Charles. Adding this information here would remove the need to include it in the section "Awards and Honours" (see below).

• In the Section "Select awards and honours", please replace the present text by:
"Legendre has received many awards and honours, which include: • 2020 - Albert 1st Medal, Oceanographic Institute, Foundation Albert 1st Prince of Monaco . 2004 - Highly Cited Researcher, Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) • 2002 - G. Evelyn Hutchinson Award, American Society of Limnology and Oceanography • 2001 - International Ecology Institute Prize, Germany . 1997 - Québec Science Prize, Pure and Applied Sciences (Marie-Victorin Prize)"
• I am the person described in the Wikipedia article, and I am thus in conflict of interest. A Wikipedia Editor (JBchrch talk 12:20, 30 June 2021 (UTC)) suggesed that I reduce the number of awards and honours to five, and introduce the section with a general sentence. If the changes to section "Academic Career" requested above were implemented, there would be no need to repeat here the honours already cited in that previous section.
• References supporting the change: https://www.eurasc.org/user/394/louis-legendre; https://www.ae-info.org/ae/Member/Legendre_Louis
• In the Section "Selected publications", please add my other books:
"• Earth, Our Living Planet - The Earth System and its Co-evolution With Organisms (2021) • Scientific Research and Discovery - Process, Consequences and Practice (2008) • Scientific Research and Discovery - Process, Consequences and Practice (2004)"
• I am the person described in the Wikipedia article, and I am thus in conflict of interest. However, the article dates several years back. Adding my other books to the section "Selected publications" would update the article.
