[edit]Regarding the apparent vandalism by an anonymous IP user who has, since May 2009, made repeated attempts to insert comments asserting a sexual relationship between Hayward and Noel Coward, please see my communications with this editor. Additionally, User:Tedder, an administrator has agreed that the assertion in question is a violation of WP:BLP. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 01:48, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
- As a violation of WP:BLP there is no violation of WP:3RR to continue deleting the vandal's comments until/unless they ever pass muster. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 02:19, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Have added the page reference. Hayward was bisexual and it's all recorded. Now move on. (92.12.190.182 (talk) 21:07, 17 December 2009 (UTC))
- The reference is incomplete as I informed you. If you are going to make assertions about someone in a public encyclopaedia you have to back it up. Adding a page number is not going to do it. Cite a quote from the book. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 00:05, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Newer edit restoring assertion of an affair between Noel Coward and Louis Hayward
[edit]I rv the assertion of an affair between Coward and Hayward with the following edit summary comment: "vandalism rv; asertions re homosexuality cannot be ascertained from the links provided; editor has been warned in the past". I mistakenly thought the same anonymous IP editor (User:92.12.190.18) had restored his debunked edits. I see it is apparently a different editor, one with whom I am not on speaking terms.
Nonetheless, the "new" sources used to cite evidence of an affair contain no quotations and cannot be verified independently. Given the controversy this matter stirred previously, with User:NuclearWarfare previously averring "rm. Looked through the source given; it turns out to be completely false". I submit that until a reliable quotation or edit which can be verified by those who don't happen to have the source book on hand, is unearthed that the allegation not be included. I would also point out that biographer Barry Lane, who wrote a biography of Hayward personally knew Hayward declared on his own personal site that "As far as Louis being one of Noel's boy--this was an unrealized fantasy of Coward." - Looks to me as if the sources are quite perfectly verifiable, to wit:

IMBD
[edit]Is not reliable to cite anything from, I can go there and add something as and when I want.
What is it with these homosexual claims, all cited to Noel cowards biography, no independent citations? just noel said so in his book, is it reported and supported elsewhere? It looks very poor indeed to me...
He was posthumously reported to have had a long-standing homosexual relationship with playwright/screenwriter Noel Coward in biographies of the latter
After he died Noel coward claimed to have been his lover...really...Off2riorob (talk) 16:19, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- Coward predeceased Hayward. I called, and do question, the reliability and legitimacy of these rumours, but the above links
quotespermit the rumours to be addressed as they were published in bios of Coward and no lawsuit was apparently ever filed by either Hayward's third wife, who did not died until 1998, or his son, Dana. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 16:23, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
The IMBD is in the infobox as if it is his website, it is also used for two citations and is also used as two external links? Is there some connection that I am not understanding? Off2riorob (talk) 16:19, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Just because no one could be bothered to sue doesn't make it useful content, are there any other reports of his homosexuality, or any people that after it was printed came forward to support the claims? I would remove it myself as the unsupported single isolated unsupported scandalous titillating claim of one person. Off2riorob (talk) 16:30, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- There are three reliable sources, two dedicated biographies of Coward and a book published by Columbia University Press, that is not "weakly cited". The claims are also "well-known". I can't see where in any of the sources it's reported as merely a claim that Coward made, would you care to provide the quotes in question? 2 lines of K303 13:24, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- The sources mentioned by Hack have nothing to do with IMDB. Please discuss the information provided in these notable sources, and stop removing the information until you have given a good reason here. Continually saying "not widely reported" in your edit summary is not going to cut it. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 23:10, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- Why not? It is not widely reported its it? no its not. Off2riorob (talk) 23:14, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- OH well you win some and you lose some. Poor guy, Some homosexual says he had a homosexual relationship and it is repeatedly inserted into a wiki as though it was some fantastic reality that some homosexual claimed he was a homosexual, truth when no one else supported it or was even bothered about it, worthless weakly cited opinionated twaddle, enjoy, thank god at least he is not being weakly claimed to be something more contentious. Off2riorob (talk) 23:23, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- That diatribe doesn't mean a single damn thing. And you have yet to respond to the challenge posed above to provide the quotes that say this was merely a claim made by Coward. You have not because you cannot. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 00:11, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- It is clearly an uncomfirmed claim by this homosexual coward. Please attempt at least to be polite, what you see as a challenge I see as amusement and fringe POV. Off2riorob (talk) 00:35, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

- Kindly stop making things up and adding them to articles. Not one of the three reliable sources says it was a claim made by Coward. 2 lines of K303 13:40, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Please realize that it is the intention of certain activist groups to attribute inversion to every notable person's Wikipedia biographical account. This is done with impunity and usually without evidence. There are, in most cases, no witnesses or verifiable public admissions.Lestrade (talk) 12:36, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Lestrade
