[edit]

{{edit semi-protected}} Please insert before "This version of flexible scheduling used then-current computer technology to generate daily class schedules based on each instructor's lesson plans.":

During its first two years, Los Alamitos High School had a complete flexible schedule program. Student submitted hand-written multi-part daily schedules during their scheduling class. This allowed them to choose from scheduled sessions of their classes for flexible periods of time, depending on the needs of the teachers and students. In the third year, it changed to a computer scheduling program to provide more administrative accountability for the students' whereabouts.

Please add to List of Musicians: John Nelson, guitarist for The Rockets, and worked with the John Lee Hooker Band and the Eddy Money Band

Not done: this is not the right page to request additional user rights. You may reopen this request with the specific changes to be made and someone will add them for you, or if you have an account, you can wait until you are autoconfirmed and edit the page yourself. I have added that paragraph. Can you please supply a reliable source stating John Nelson went to LAHS? Thanks, Stickee (talk) 02:47, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Add "Twila Reid" to the band section.

Not done: I can't tell if the band is notable enough for inclusion. The other bands have articles, which means they have met our notability threshold. Can you create an article on the band or provide some proof of notablility? Thanks, Celestra (talk) 00:35, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm a current student at Los Al and there's a few things that could be updated. 1- Under the picture at the top of the school does not have a motto or saying of "Dieu et mon droit". 2- At the present, we don't have a rivalry with Esperanza. If anything, I'd say we have a rivalry with the Irvine schools. 3- The current Dean of Students is Isaac Gates. The school has not updated the site yet as edits take a while. 4- Girls Volleyball has gone to CIF State. http://www.losal.org/1464201417510423/lib/1464201417510423/Fall_2011_Principals_Newsletter.pdf (See Principals message) 5-Vocal Music Section- there's alot of bias in there. I think it might be good to delete that section OR write something on all the performing arts departments. I think the content has bias in it. 6- The new drama website is losaldrama.org I'd be willing to help with this page if I could get some access to the page :) Thanks! Itsandrewt (talk) 23:49, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I have removed the motto, the sentence about rivalry, and the vocal music section; all were unsourced, and the last one was written in an unencyclopedic style. We'll need to wait for the school to update its web site to add the current Dean of Students. (A reliable secondary source would also work, but a Google search turned up nothing.) I'm not confident that the drama site meets an important guideline, so I didn't add that. Regarding the volleyball team, I'm not about to copy and paste from the principal's newsletter, but I'm not familiar enough with scholastic sports in California to write it from scratch. So it would be better if you'd propose some wording as a starting point. Just make a new edit request or reopen this one if you'd like to do that. If there was coverage of the team's win in a local newspaper that you can provide a link to, that would great. Rivertorch (talk) 09:10, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia article is not up to date with current information. Under History > Principals of Los Alamitos High School, the list is not up to the current date on the principals who have worked at the school since the article was last edited. After the retirement of the previous principal, Dr. Gregg Stone, Mrs. Christiana Kraus has now assumed the position of principal of Los Alamitos High School. Kraus taking on the role as principal was put into effect on July 1, 2021. [1]. It also needs to be noted that after the first retirement of Dr. Gregg Stone in 2019, Mr. Chris Vlasic became the principal at Los Alamitos High School. His term as the principal lasted until late 2020 when he resigned from his position, thus leaving Dr. Stone to re-assume his previous position as principal in August of the Same year. [2]. I hope the information in this request can help to update the page and keep Wikipedia updated to the best of its ability.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Allison Mack is probably most notable now as being a high-ranking member of the NXIVM cult, for which she was convicted of a felony. Her entry here should reflect that either by moving her into the "criminals" section under notable alumni, or having it mentioned next to her name in the actors section. 23.240.243.98 (talk) 15:10, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this page semi-protected?

[edit]

It seems pretty unusual for a high school of this level of notability, and I don't see any discussion about it here. What's the deal? 23.240.243.98 (talk) 15:12, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

adding @CIreland they appear to to be the person who locked this page almost a decade ago 23.240.243.98 (talk) 16:13, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See [4] It's was semi-protected initially in 2010 for the defamatory accusations about a member (or former member) of the teaching staff. In 2014, I don't recall precisely why I semi-protected it again because the offending changes are no longer visible even to admins, having been oversighted. Anything bad enough to get oversighted is prima facie sufficient to justify semi-protection. As to why indefinite, it was because the article is and was on few editors' watchlists (31 at present, thought most of those will be inactive) and in 2014 we didn't have the advanced automated tools to pick up vandalism or WP:BLP issues that we have today so, for this kind of barely monitored article, indefinite semi-protection was kind of the least bad option.
Things have changed nowadays so I'll unprotect but if you want to make the edit you refer to above about Ms Mack, be mindful of whether the criminality or the acting career is the main source of her notability. People with criminal convictions must still be treated with dignity and care, regardless of what they may have done. CIreland (talk) 22:18, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. On the question of whether or not Mack should be under "criminals" or "actors" I don't have a strong feeling either way. If you, an obviously more experienced editor have a preference, by all means let me know. The salient point here is that her involvement in NXIVM bears mention here. 23.240.243.98 (talk) 18:14, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would argue that she has a Wikipedia article because she is an actress not because she is a criminal. It wouldn't be factually wrong to move her to the other list though, although you may get some push back as it doesn't appear to be the primary reason for her notability. I'm not very familiar with NXIVM or US television though so I wouldn't put too much stock in my judgment. CIreland (talk) 22:59, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
