One important thing to remember is that Jesus claims to be Lord of the Sabbath, He is claiming diety. In Genesis we find that Jehovah God created and sanctified the Sabbath. Only Jehovah God can be the sovereign over the Sabbath. There is only one God. Therefore for Christ to claim that He is Lord of the Sabbath He is claiming oneness with Jehovah. No one else cand be Lord of the Sabbath but Jehovah. Therefore Jesus is claiming to be God. " 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done."
