I didn't write this article and have no interest in the lifestyle, but I find the article very valuable. If, like myself, you would like to see the article retained for academic or other reasons, oppose the merger with "Local food" or whatever other article is being proposed. See the merger discussion link(s) below (currently under the heading "Merge proposal"). [I'm bringing this into greater attention because the discussion of this article's deletion is regrettably not on this page but on another article's talk page.] Softlavender (talk) 00:28, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

In order to make this article more up-to-date and relevant, I have started to do research on this specific topic. One of the first things I have noticed is the opening statement does not include all the informaton of what being "local" entails. KChiefs Shenanigans (talk) 00:57, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
As my research continues, I would like to add more information as to how helpful producing locally is to the environment. KChiefs Shenanigans (talk) 21:09, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
Furthermore, how helpful it is to a locavore's health. Not specifically targeting locavores, but certainly the general population who might dabble in the thought of eating more organically. KChiefs Shenanigans (talk) 21:09, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure this could ever become more then a dicdef, but it's certainly sourced. Might this work better as part of Sustainable agriculture? Seraphimblade 23:35, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Local food is probably a better merge destination.--TexasDex 12:49, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Merge proposal

It has been suggested that the article Locavore be merged into the article Local food, the discussusion is located here - Jeremy (Jerem43 (talk) 20:23, 23 November 2007 (UTC))

Word of the year

Are you serious? Is this really what Oxford came up with as the word of the year? I'm not sure if my brain can take such silliness. As a side note, where was this found so it can be sourced and people like me don't sit here in an awe of skepticism.--Chef Christopher Allen Tanner, CCC (talk) 03:53, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

I would like to include hyperlinks for community gardens and farmers markets. I believe these links relate to a locavore lifestyle.Tiredacct (talk) 01:18, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Do you mean links to other (non-Wikipedia) websites? If so, definitely not, as that would fail our guideline on external links. Qwyrxian (talk) 02:23, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

To other Wikipedia pages, not to external links.Tiredacct (talk) 01:49, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

That may be possible; which pages do you have in mind? They'll need to have a clear and direct connection to this topic, and we don't want to overwhelm this page with a whole bunch of them, but a select number may be appropriate for a See Also section. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:29, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Specifically the links to Farmers' Market and Community Gardening as both of these are relevant to a locavore lifestyleTiredacct (talk) 00:51, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Ah! I understand. I thought that there were pages on specific (named) community gardens & markets you wanted added. I've now added Farmer's market and Community garden to the See Also section. Thanks for the good suggestion; sorry it took me a while to see what you meant. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:27, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

I, too, would like to include a hyperlink to crop rotations. It will be more included into the benefits of eating locally. KChiefs Shenanigans (talk) 20:22, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Edit for reference #3

The link for reference #3 is broken and I feel it should be replaced by the link to OUPBlog http://blog.oup.com/2007/11/prentice/Tiredacct (talk) 01:15, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Reference link 9 (http://blogs.mercurynews.com/food/2008/01/24/the-locovore-challenge/) which is no longer a valid link. I believe the link should be removed and/or replaced by a functioning link.Tiredacct (talk) 23:59, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Reference link 6 and 10 go to the exact same page, so I think one of them should be removed because it is redundant.Inmemoryof babyluna (talk) 05:03, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Removing "underground supper club" information

The statement is not factual as it is written and should be removed. Depending on the country it is in an underground supper club does not restrict itself to only using sustainable ingredients as statedTiredacct (talk) 02:04, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
