The boys in the band
[edit]In the early 1990's, the backup band for Lois Lane occasionally played their own gigs. (Think "The Band" which was the backup for Bob Dillon.) They were, in fact, quite good musicians -- I saw them live at De Heeren van Aemstel in Amsterdam in 1993. I met the Klemann sisters as they were hanging at the bar watching their friends -- very nice ladies. Anyway, 17 years is a long time and I can't remember the name that the backup band used when they played without the sisters. Perhaps someone can contact them to make the article more complete?

Requested move 12 September 2015
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved. to Loïs Lane (band). WP:SMALLDETAILS has two clauses. One of them says "when renaming to a less ambiguous page name can be done without wandering from WP:CRITERIA, such renaming should be considered." Several editors felt that the simple Loïs Lane title was too confusing, one of them citing WP:ASTONISH. Another pointed out that the Loïs Lane band was much less prominent than the comics character. Someone who reads the band's name without looking at it carefully will be taken to the wrong target. When you Google for 'Loïs Lane' you'll notice that Google pays little or no attention to the diaeresis, giving you lots of hits for the comics character. Loïs Lane → Loïs Lane (FOO disambiguator) – WP:ASTONISH, is this the article topic you were expecting? In ictu oculi (talk) 08:07, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
- Unless I am missing something I don't see someone looking for the Superman character typing ï.--99.251.179.28 (talk) 13:09, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
- ...they don't always use the ï Lois Lane - Every Time I Hear Your Name CD cover In ictu oculi (talk) 17:57, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support moving to Loïs Lane (band) or similar. Searches for "Loïs Lane" on Google are dominated by the comics character, even when searched in combination with terms like "Christmas album" that are band-specific. 209.211.131.181 (talk) 14:47, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support - The article need to be distinguish from the comic character. The current title "Loïs Lane" do not clearly label the article as a music girl group. The article name need to clearly show that this is the music girl group and not the comic book character "Lois Lane". The title need changing. I support renamed the article to "Loïs Lane (band)", simple and to the point. Rootone (talk) 03:20, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support, for instance within context of Category:Dutch girl groups the Loïs Lane (band) would fit well among other content: K3 (band), Mai Tai (band), Maywood (band), Passion Fruit (band), Snoopy (band) and WOW! (band). GregKaye 08:59, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose – The requested move is not solving any existing problem, because there are no other Loïs Lane lemmas and the current hatnote already redirects people that reach this article by mistake. – Editør (talk) 11:30, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:SMALLDETAILS. It's unthinkable that anyone would type or click on "Loïs" looking for anything else.--Cúchullain t/c 18:40, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:SMALLDETAILS. Why would anyone who specifically types in the "ï" be looking for anything other than this article? Jenks24 (talk) 13:04, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support move to Loïs Lane (band), per nomination. If the band were of equal or near equal prominence to the character, then SMALLDETAILS might make sense. In this case it doesn't, however. As the nominator says, the current title does not satisfy the "precision" clause of WP:CRITERIA, because to most people's eyes the title would refer to the character. — Amakuru (talk) 10:46, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
