Etymology of Littauer

[edit]

I'm unsure how to cite two alternate derivations of Littauer. My sister has met a Littauer from Switzerland, and I have also been to Littau in the Czech republic, which is closer to my family's last traceable origin of Posen than Lithuania. The edits I made (see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Littauer&oldid=1246979131) - which weren't decisive, but suggested that it could be possible - were reverted. @FromCzech What would you suggest, as you reverted those edits? 203.211.110.54 (talk) 03:30, 24 September 2024 (UTC) - That was me, logged in. This page is about the surname, not the meaning of the word Littauer (wiktionary is for that). It is highly unlikely that the surname was derived from meanings other than Lithuanian. There are very few surnames originating from Czech cities and towns (either from a Czech or a historical name) and a reliable source is needed to prove something like that.
