Seems that photos of lithium open pit mines has been scrubbed on the internet. I find that disingenuous. There are many of them but they are not available to be seen where they should be seen. I would recommend that you not pabulum feed the public, show the real cost of lithium mining that needs to be addressed if we are to have a successful dialog on the proper strategy for converting to renewable energy. I had to use Google maps satellite view to get a photo of the Greenbushes open pit lithium mine(s), in western Australia. 50.34.131.164 (talk) 14:57, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a picture of the Greenbushes mine to the lead, but I don't think most people will find the image as shocking as you're hoping. But I do agree the article could use a section on the environmental impacts of lithium mining. --Tserton (talk) 05:39, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A lot of this article is currently just mining news and recentism. Much of it is wildly out of date, even just a few years on, due to the rapid pace of new developments and mergers in the sector. I think it would make sense to reorganise the "Current situation" section (now titled "Companies") and "Lithium production" by mining site. To stop it from degenerating into a never-ending list, I'd propose limiting it to the 5 or so biggest sites - maybe discriminate by annual production, say, a minimum of 100,000 tonnes per annum.
