I'd like to incoporate this into the main spacecraft article. Rob 05:14, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
Article scope
[edit]I'm a bit surprised to find this article so small. I don't mind it -- just surprised. There are a very large number of "spacecraft that have an article" in Wikipedia. Is it the intent that, over the long term, all of these will come to populate this article? If so, I would think it will be very large, and it might be useful to discuss the outline of the article here on the Talk page to set up for it. Cheers. N2e (talk) 15:15, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- I agree, it would be nice to have a more comprehensive list.. there are so many lists around, though, it will take time, so in the mean time I've redirected this to Spacecraft. Mlm42 (talk) 20:01, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- I support the temporary redirect, as the current article certainly makes little sense as it stood; the article is non-comprehensive, and the intended scope is uncertain. Having said that, I'm sure others will want to eventually weigh in.
- I should note here, having worked a bit on the mess that is List of aircraft in recent months, that once this list gets going, and attracts a dedicated cadre of editors who want to grow it, the natural dynamic of Wikipedia is for it to grow without much of a limit, for a long time. In List of aircraft for example, nearly every plane model every built, even a single plane, as well as many concepts that were never built, gets a line in the list. There are literally over a thousand links to redlinked articles (articles that do not exist) for aircraft of which there is not one iota of evidence from a verifiable source that the aircraft ever existed. Where next? What should be done with List of spacecraft in Wikipedia?
[edit]- In my view, the redirect ought to stay in place at least until such time as a consensus is reached on this Talk page as to article scope, a first pass cut on high-level organization of the spacecraft, and what level of sourcing is required for a claim to be left in the article? I have opinions on that, but I do think we need to resolve these questions before removing the redir. N2e (talk) 21:01, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Now that it's a redirect, my guess is that very few people will see this page. But anyway, consider the number of lists we have already: List of unmanned spacecraft by program, Timeline of artificial satellites and space probes, List of Solar System probes, and List of manned spacecraft to name a few. I think if it's not a redirect, then the "List of spacecraft" should probably be a page dedicated to navigating the various lists (similar to Timeline of spaceflight). But I think it's best to first sort out the article spacecraft, which is in pretty rough shape, and gets over 1000 hits a day. Mlm42 (talk) 21:33, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Why is the page not called "List of lists of spacecrafts"? Or "Spacecrafts lists"?
[edit]I am genuinely wondering. Because the page is a list of lists, not just a list of articles about spacecrafts. CodemWiki (talk) 22:18, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

All list are covered in Outline of space exploration. This is a duplicate page. 122.187.144.100 (talk) 02:39, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
