Split

[edit]

This article is a split from Hawaii hotspot, intended to make the article more managable. ResMar 15:37, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have to say, good job on the split. It was a burden on HH and now it stands on its own. Also, nice work on the intro. -- ErgoSumtalktrib 23:01, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Would you believe I wrote it all from memory? I suprised myself :D ResMar 23:14, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well

Thats the second volcano FLC, then :D ResMar 01:46, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This list and the article

[edit]

Hawaiian–Emperor seamount chain

Thanks to resident Mario for the well-written content here that drastically improved the article there. I know that Resident Mario wants to keep this list's current long introduction, but I'm not going to revert the article (not this list) back to its previous state, which would be a major downgrade. Since this page is a list and that page an article, I'd rather see the lengthy detailed prose there. Ego White Tray (talk) 12:43, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, the detailed content belongs on the article rather than this list. Vsmith (talk) 13:07, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree A list article is still an article and not a data table dump and should have a proper introduction. Of course the full article can contain a lot more information, but that is not a reason to reduce the lead for the list to a single sentence. CRwikiCA talk 18:21, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Full protection

[edit]
  • I've full protected the article for 3 days. I have no opinion on the content and won't be commenting on it, but protecting was a better option than blocking. Please discuss the content here and reach a consensus so it can be implemented here after the protection expires. Dennis Brown - - © - @ - Join WER 13:44, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The FLR is a more appropriate forum for this. He opened it, he should abide by it. ResMar 15:23, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That works as well. BTW, Any admin is free to remove protection without asking when they deem it is appropriate. Dennis Brown - - © - @ - Join WER 15:38, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Resident Mario has not discussed this in good faith on any page, which is the reason I have continued to revert him. Had he actually discussed this on any page, other than saying "how dare you edit my page", there would be no edit war. Ego White Tray (talk) 16:08, 26 May 2013 (UTC) Never mind, I didn't yet see his post at the featured list discussion. Ego White Tray (talk) 16:23, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You start an FLR and then when people there disagree with you start insisting that the discussion be taken to the talk page. Hypocritical much? ResMar 16:21, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't insist it be discussed here in particular. Ego White Tray (talk) 16:23, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The 8 main windward Hawaiian islands are not the only islands in the state.

[edit]

The article states that the windward islands are the State of Hawaii, and then talks about the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, as if they are not part of the state. Except for Midway, all of these are contained in the State of Hawaii, as part of the City and County of Honolulu. Reference https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honolulu_County,_Hawaii. Please revise the text. 98.151.249.222 (talk) 01:46, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for catching that. I've revised the text--please feel free to flag any additional problems. Aoi (青い) (talk) 02:05, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Age column has problems

[edit]

I note that for most volcanoes in the list, the "Age" is the number of years since the volcano first erupted, in other words the total time the volcano has existed, both as an active volcano and as an extinct volcanic island or seamount. For a few volcanoes the "Age" seems to be the number of years the volcano was active, which is obviously the same thing for the currently active volcanoes like Kilaeua, but is not for volcanoes which have ceased erupting. In at least one case "Age" is the number of years since the last eruption, which obviously properly belongs in the Last Eruption column. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.48.95.185 (talk) 14:00, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
