Tattoo Artist ???
[edit]Trym Torson: if this man is properly in this List ???--Dr.heintz (talk) 12:11, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm not sure what you're asking. This man is on this list. In his article it states that he is a tattoo artist. Do you think that he should not be on the list? I've added the reference to this list also, but if you think he shouldn't be included, feel free to discuss it here.--BelovedFreak 12:33, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, excuse my english I´m german
- Hello, excuse my english I´m german
I think, in this List schould be only Tattoo Artists they had a Tattoo Studio, work for a longer time in that Business, or had a history in tattoo-art.--79.222.236.125 (talk) 07:29, 19 November 2010 (UTC) --Dr.heintz (talk) 07:30, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think I agree with you. In that case we should not include people like Jason Cruz either. We should only include people who are known primarily for their tattoo work. Before we remove these people, I would like to see what any other editors think.--BelovedFreak 11:16, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Hello Belovedfreak, that´s good
Please, can you check User:Dr.heintz/Horst Heinrich Streckenbach, and when it´s OK can you take the article to Horst Heinrich Streckenbach. Thanks a lot.--Dr.heintz (talk) 14:31, 19 November 2010 (UTC) - is already finished--Dr.heintz (talk) 10:34, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- I will have a look when I get time, probably today. --BelovedFreak 10:38, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. Sorry for my late response. ScarTissueBloodBlister (talk) 23:50, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Alexdepo94 (talk) 03:54, 15 November 2016 (UTC)Hello I would like to add an artist to the list, Brücius von Xylander (Brücius), an American tattoo artist born 1967 and specializes in blackwork tattoos. He has his own artist wikipedia page already, is a pioneer of etching tattoos and is an international award winning tattoo artist. He also was trained, manages and works at the very historic Black and Blue tattoo in San Francisco with plans to open his own shop in 2017. Here is a reference to add for his artist entry http://savemyink.tumblr.com/post/102612147786/br%C3%BCcius-fine-artist-coveted-tattoo-artist
Thank you for reading this and considering Brücius for your list of notable artists.
Mary Jane Haake
[edit]I recently submitted an article on Mary Jane Haake, who was the first person to get an art degree in tattooing and who introduced topical anesthetics to the industry. I wasn't sure how to get her on this list. I am working on an article about Bert Grimm also. Thanks KatKalls (talk) 05:39, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- That's the trouble with these fancy, sortable tables - they're not very user-friendly! I've added her to the list. Feel free to change the description I added, but you'll get the general idea of the kind of thing we put. Ideally, we should have a reference for each entry. I didn't know what to choose as most of the ones from that article are offline. If you choose one that covers the general description of who she is, either add it to the table, if you can work out where, or put it here and I'll add it. When you're done with the next article, you can just mention that here too, and I'll add it to the list. Good work, by the way! --BelovedFreak 11:15, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Shannon Moore
[edit]TNA Wrestler Shannon Moore works as a tattoo artist. He operates a tattoo shop called Gas Chamber Ink in Southern Pines, North Carolina so i think we should add him as this is a tattoo artist list
List of Tattoo Parlours?
[edit]Hello, this is my first time participating in a Wiki discussion. I am a Library and Information Science student at the University of Toronto. As a class project we are encouraged to edit and contribute to a page of our interest and tattoo's happen to be mine. I am wondering if a list of tattoo parlours could also be created? Places that have a reputable reputation, great artists and excellent atmosphere to be tattooed in. It is one thing to read the article about tattoo's (history, religious affiliations, discrimination, care and risks/dangers), but it would be wonderful to recommend several places in which to receive an amazing tattoo by artists and shops that are accessible to the average person. I am very interested in people's responses, thoughts, idea's. Thank you for your time. Jen.cooper (talk) 18:53, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Jen, and welcome to Wikipedia. Having a list of tattoo parlours is an interesting idea, but I'm a little concerned that it might fall outside Wikipedia's scope. Editors determine what should have an article based on the notability of the topic. There are a few different guidelines regarding notability, depending on the subject area, but the main one is that the topic has received significant coverage in multiple, independent reliable sources. This way, we can make sure that it's not just us as editors deciding something is worth writing about, but it has already been decided by the sources we use. For example, someone wouldn't have an article written about them just because they work as an actor, or even because they have appeared in a feature film. They would either have done something significant, like won an award, or they would have been discussed in multiple independent reliable sources (like newspaper articles, magazine articles, journals, reviews etc.)
- Writing lists is slightly different. We tend to have two types of list. Some, like this one of tattoo artists, only contains items that have their own article. As a result, all the people on the list should also meet our notability guidelines. (Sometimes, some less-notable topics slip through and are eventually deleted, following discussion.) We do have other lists that contain items that may not be notable enough for their own article, but would still be considered part of an encyclopedic topic. See for example, List of recipients of the Silver Buffalo Award. Some of the people on the list have articles, but many do not. Some of the ones without articles will eventually be written about, but some of those people may never be considered notable by our standards. There is a list of them though, because it has been decided that the Silver Buffalo Award is a notable award, and that a list of the recipients would be an encyclopedic topic.
- With a list of tattoo parlours, I would worry that we would be straying into "What Wikipedia is not", specifically, Wikipedia is not a directory and Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. As much as you would like to use such a lit (and so perhaps might I) it may not, according to WP's guidelines, be considered encyclopedic. Useful, maybe, but interesting and important in encyclopedic terms? Possibly not. There would be problems with the notability of the parlours, as well as the verifiability of the information. Who decides which have great artists or atmosphere? We would probably need to use either original research or unreliable sources. Some may have been reviewed in reliable sources, but I'm sure the coverage is patchy, and limited to certain places. There must be, what, millions? of tattoo parlours in the world. Such a list would not be remotely manageable.
- I hate to put you off when you've only just started on Wikipedia, but I hope you understand why it may not be the best idea. I don't know if there is any system for rating or awarding parlours. If there was, and that system was itself notable, there may be some scope for an article. As an example, we would never have an article that is just a list of restaurants, for the same reasons given above. We do however have, for example, List of Michelin starred restaurants in Ireland. The Michelin star system is notable, well-recognised and easily verifiable. This article is also manageable because its scope is limited to one country.
- Sorry, I know there's a lot to take in there, but I hope that all makes sense.--BelovedFreak 15:02, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your thorough response Belovedfreak. I completely understand why such a list would pose a problem within the realm of Wikipedia after conducting some further research. I am eager to contribute, but am finding difficulty where to start. Is there perhaps any particular area you are in need of research of? Please let me know. Adding a tattoo artist to the list
[edit]Hi, I would like to add an Italian tattoo artist Tom|Tattoo, real name Tommaso Buglioni, one of "the fathers" of modern tattoo art in Italy, working since 1982. He has long worked in the USA, partecipating to severan conventions in the State, as, for instance, The NYC Tattoo Convention since his first edition in late '90s. He has a page in the Italian Wikipedia: can I add him to the list even if he has not an English page? Thanks --Giulia Visci (talk) 16:18, 26 October 2012 (UTC) How about if I add a list of English language pubblication mentioning Tom Tattoo as reliable sources? How can I add his name to the list and make it appear in the table? Thanks--Giulia Visci (talk) 07:42, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, in this list are only Tattooist they have a own article in the en-wiki. --Dr.heintz (talk) 06:42, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

[edit]If I may request to add the name Walter Cleveland. He was one of the renegades in Tuttles' time period, and his invention using the carborator of a car to make smoother application process is noteworthy to the entirety of machination in tattoo art!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kobismargiassi (talk • contribs) 06:49, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
