Metro

[edit]

Every metro or rail system has its lot of suiciders. Why include some of those in that list and not the other? Do those cities maybe have no bridges to jump from (irony). As "the metro" is very vague and not a particular spot i find it unnecessary to have them on the list.

The montreal metro is included because of the high numbers compared to other subway systems. I can tell you personally that it is a hotspot, my first metro ride ever was held up due to "Cleaning of the tracks". Spuzman 03:04, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Citations

[edit]

This article has barely a cite to it, and as such is worthless. I've lived near two of these places, and as the local "high place" they were an obvious magnet for suicide. Listing them alone tells us nothing. If there were citations for how many suicides were involved, then that might at least give some notable content as a comparison between them.

As it is, this article probably warrants deletion. Drastic, but just saying, "People looking to kill themselves jump off high stuff, not low stuff" isn't worth the electrons. Andy Dingley (talk) 22:23, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rebooting article and removing unsourced listings

[edit]

Similar to how List of suicides was changed to remove all unsourced listings, I'm doing the same here. If you find a source for an entry, add it back to the article. Mahanga (Talk) 03:09, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Entries that have been struck through have been added back (with a reference). —Half Price 20:15, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Any objections to moving this to List of suicide locations? List of suicide sites can be confused with "websites". –Novem Linguae (talk) 10:26, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This article is very low traffic, so I went ahead and just WP:BOLDly did the move. If there's objections feel free to move it back. –Novem Linguae (talk) 10:27, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suicide hotlines

[edit]

I noticed that an edit made in June on this page was revoked as it was a link to an external site. The link in question was a link to a page for global support lines for people feeling suicidal. https://www.suicidestop.com/call_a_hotline.html

Whilst I can see the page does link to the Wiki page for crisis support, at a point of crisis, it's important to make help as accessible as possible. Wikipedia guidelines do say that external links are permissible in certain circumstances. Could an exception be made in this instance? 77.101.61.53 (talk) 12:29, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
