Talk:List of special response units

Is this a list of "Special Response Units" in the same style as the US version of this page? As these are almost all Military units and not LE (as the US Special Response Units article is focused on).

I wouldn't refer to any of the Australia listed Military SOF units as "Special Response Units" nor are they comparable to many units listed on the United States Special Response Units page such as local Police/Sheriff "SWAT" teams etc...

Is this the same as List of special forces units or is it different? (some entries link to counter-terrorist type units, some to special forces units) if so, how? This list suffers since there is no main article for Special Response Units. Scarykitty 03:36, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Emergency Response Team

[edit]

This page, List of Special Response Units, is the target of an automatic redirect from Emergency Response Team. I believe this redirection is not a valid one.

The List of Special Response Units seems to focus on primarily the police and military units which serve as special units, however the concept of Emergency Response Team is broader.

For instance, in The Netherlands Emergency Response Teams are people within companies or organisations who are trained to be the first line of response to any incident occurring within their locations. In effect it is more like the Industrial Civil Defence sections within large organisations.

This list starts of with mentioning that it is a list of Police units...then lists Military units...the biggest glaring example being Australias list with all units being military and not one Police unit being listed...despite being numerous pages on such.

Where are the sources

[edit]

This list is filled with units that don't have their own article, leaving their notability in question and not a single source for this list. If WP:V, WP:RS and WP:N get applied, this list is going to shrink fast. Further, the criteria for inclusion here is starting to get pretty fuzzy.Niteshift36 (talk) 04:14, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Expanded list of US law enforcement units

[edit]

I've added a large number of US law enforcment units to the list, and will be going back and adding links to their respective agency hompages, as time permits. While I could add a LOT more, I'm trying to stick with some of the larger agencies for the time being. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.13.213.101 (talk) 04:30, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
